Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag. It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality. Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy! (Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

This extension is pretty cool to use on both macOS and iOS , but the main issue I found is that captions move to the left on macOS and don't even work on iOS , so it's not good for a paid extension.

Now I get consistently the same message: “Fallback. This video is blocked by YouTube with a 403 error. It's not a bug in Vinegar. Try clearing your browser history and reloading this page.”Clearing the data, refreshing, even using private mode, nothing works.

This extension keeps hiding youtube controls in MAC OSX, even when it’s not in full screen mode. It’s absolutely annoying. For me, means to have paid to get rid of one annoyance and receive another even harder to skip. Please FIX IT
