Cognitive Development Screening Tool assesses a child’s level of understanding as a guide to further intervention.
The Screening Tool is designed to be used by professionals and parents who are concerned with a child’s learning development. The tool assesses a child’s understanding . This review can be useful whilst waiting for a formal assessment from a trained Speech and Language Professional.
The assessment is divided into six levels, approximating to 6 month stages starting at 2 years through to 5 years.
The questions use engaging illustrations, and there is clear feedback on the answers given by the student. The questions are written on each page for the adult to ask of the student. There is also an option for the sentence to be spoken by the iPad.
The results are saved on the iPad and are displayed on the set-up screen. The results show the responses to each question plus there is a summary of the results banded into three categories: Green, Amber and Red. These aim to guide the adult to areas needing further work.
The results can also be printed or emailed to enable recording in other formats.
