Signing up. To cut down on spam accounts, signing up now happens in your default browser. Then sign in to the app with the same email and password.

Smart Folders. Save a search to the sidebar. A smart folder keeps the words, notebook or tag, file kind and scope you chose, and always shows every note that matches. Make one from the + beside Smart Folders, or from Search with Save as Smart Folder. PDFs you can read in a note. A PDF shows every page at the width of your writing and scrolls with the note. Files stay in Egg. Photos, videos, recordings and PDFs always show in the note. Other files open in Quick Look inside the Mac and iPhone apps. Download sits on each file's corner and in its right-click menu. Signing in again. If Egg needs your password again, the sidebar shows Sign In to Sync. On the Mac, a short window asks for it. Bug fixes. A hashtag typed in a note becomes one tag once you finish the word, not a tag for every letter. That was an oops! On the Mac, Show Tab Bar no longer covers the edit bar: window tabs are gone and separate windows stay. After an update, What's New opens before the first sync instead of after it, making the sync a bit smoother.

On the Mac, the paperclip above a note opens a window for choosing a file. A rare pause while the app checks your downloaded files is gone.

Small Design updates. We moved the search icon to the notes list to save some room on your writing pane.

Stacks, refined sidebar, reorganized settings and an updated edit bar. Plus some small bug fixes.

Formatting controls and keyboard focus work again on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Notes edited on another device now arrive while the app stays open. Related notes now open from a bar at the foot of the note that you can expand and collapse.

Visual improvements in the notes list and sign-in screen, and updates to the subscription flow.

Library recovery The vault has been retired. Existing protected libraries can be recovered on each device without deleting notes or files. Once recovery finishes, the old vault passphrase prompt is removed. Simpler navigation Note actions use a single toolbar on iPhone and iPad. List appearance and sorting open directly, selection actions stay compact, and arrow keys scroll notes on desktop. Visual improvements We've consolidated some menus and overall opened up the app for a more enjoyable writing experience. Bug fixes Improved undo experience. A jerky Related notes menu. And some various other usability issues.

Native Settings Settings on iPhone, iPad, and Mac now use native navigation. Your open note and unsent support drafts stay in place as you move between sections and resize windows. Vault controls Set up and manage your vault directly in the Apple apps, including recovery phrases, passphrase changes, and lock settings. Bug fixes Fixed Mac window crashes, restored library syncing when saved account details are missing, and improved the empty-library screen. Also fixed an error when turning end-to-end encryption on or off in the web app. Local vault protection remains in place.
