Behind the scenes, How Long Left has been completely restructured. For now, that doesn't mean very much for you, but an improved codebase will make it much easier for me to add features to How Long Left in the future. Okay. This is a big one. Here’s what’s new… Status item: - There's now an option to show a countdown to the next event to start in the status item. - You can set the clock image in the status item to appear as the How Long Left app icon, instead of the standard basic icon. - You can now prevent events from appearing in the status item without being selected. Countdown Windows: - You can now launch windows that display a countdown for an event. - There’s even a progress bar, so you can see a visual representation of how miserably long your meeting/class/lecture is. Event Selection: - From the menu, you can now click to select any current or upcoming event to display it in the status item. - A selection icon now appears in the status item to indicate manual selection. - Event selections are now preserved after relaunching the app. Menu: - By default, upcoming events for the day are now listed in the top-level menu, instead of in a separate submenu. - If you find this layout cluttered, you can revert to the previous submenu layout in preferences. - There are also several improvements for event information submenus, including displaying the calendar the event belongs to. - Following occurrences within the next two weeks are now shown for every event. Widget: - The Notification Centre widget has been redesigned. - When no events are on, the widget now counts down to the next upcoming event. - The widget now displays the selected event. All-Day Events: - You can now choose to enable the visibility of all-day events. - Furthermore, you can configure whether or not all-day events are allowed to appear in the status item without being selected. Formatting: - Many semantic improvements to how dates, times, and time intervals are formatted. - For example, time intervals over one week are now formatted in weeks and days. - Time intervals are now rounded up. - Improved logic for displaying dates and times relative to the current date and time.
