sqsl Astral turns iPad into a conceptual MIDI controller inspired by the night sky.
- Full-screen use for maximum immersion effect.
- “Pitch class inversion" quantizer with 5 quick-access pitch presets.
- Notes in the field are spread across 3 parts with adjustable density, octave range, velocity, and MIDI channel assignment.
- Each part can be sent to multiple MIDI channels (rotating or random selection).
- Note fields with quantiser settings can be saved to 5x49 preset positions for later recall.
Important notes:
- Astral starts and runs in full-screen mode. Swipe from the left edge to show controls for switching quantiser presets or from the right edge to access other settings and parameters.
- Astral does not make any sounds on its own; it generates MIDI note-on/note-off messages.
- Astral is a standalone app (it cannot be loaded as an AUv3 plugin in hosts).
