Phonetiq automatically adds phonetic and pronunciation spellings to your contacts so Siri recognizes names written in non-Latin scripts. Ask to call or message a contact in its original script and it just works.
How it works:
- Recognition (the main feature): lets Siri understand your contacts' names in Greek, Cyrillic, and Georgian scripts when you speak them.
- On iOS 27: recognition and pronunciation are both powered by Apple's own pronunciation fields — nothing to configure, and your contacts keep their original sort order.
- On iOS 26 and earlier: Phonetiq adds phonetic spellings that drive recognition (and set the sort order, the same way the Contacts app handles any non-Latin script) plus optional spoken pronunciation — turn that off in Settings if you don't need it.
Upgrading to iOS 27? Open Phonetiq once after upgrading. It will offer to clean up the older phonetic fields it wrote for previous iOS versions, since iOS 27 no longer needs them — your contacts keep working the same either way, this just tidies things up.

Important: Contact Sorting Note
Due to a confirmed iOS bug, Phonetiq currently uses phonetic fields (the only method that works with voice assistants right now). This may affect how contacts are sorted in the Contacts app—they will be sorted by the phonetic spelling rather than the original name. We've reported this to Apple, and once they fix it in a future iOS update, we'll restore the pronunciation field option that doesn't affect sorting.
