Every time in the app now tells you whose clock it's on. • Sunrise, the blue hour, a transit, a shoot plan — each one now says when it's showing your phone's clock instead of the spot's. No more doing time-zone arithmetic in your head at four in the morning. • That label came with a real fix underneath it. A spot's time zone used to be guessed from its longitude whenever it couldn't be looked up, so a spot in Barcelona could come out an hour off, silently. It's resolved properly now — and when it genuinely can't be, the app says so instead of quietly guessing. • Your pins are honest about precision. If you've given Viewpoint approximate location, a spot you capture is drawn as the area it could be in, not a confident pin that's kilometres out. Precise location is offered at the moment you're saving a spot, not nagged at launch. • Photo backup stops saying "waiting" forever. A photo that can't upload now tells you, instead of sitting in a queue that was never going to move. • Purchases tell you what happened. A payment that fails, or is still pending, now says so rather than appearing to do nothing. Also fixed: • Sky events knows the difference between "nothing tonight" and "couldn't reach the data". • A transit corridor extrapolated past its orbit data now says so. • A one-foot depth of field reads as 1 ft, not 12 in. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: Photograph the Space Station crossing the Sun or the Moon. • Satellite Transits, in Tools, finds the moments the ISS — or Tiangong, or Hubble — passes directly in front of the Sun or the Moon from where you are. The whole thing lasts under a second and is only visible from a corridor a few kilometres wide, so it is won or lost before you leave the house. • Pick the dates you're free. You get the times, where to stand, and a map with the centre-line drawn on it — then navigate straight to it. • A sketch shows how big the silhouette will be against the disc, so you know what focal length to pack before you go. • It tells you how old its orbit data is. Orbits drift, and stale data quietly moves the corridor — so the app states the age instead of handing you a confident-looking answer that would send you to the wrong field. • The maths runs entirely on your device. Once the orbit data is downloaded, the search itself needs no signal. Fixed: • Restore Purchases now tells you what happened. If there's no active subscription on your Apple ID, or the App Store can't be reached, it says so — instead of appearing to do nothing at all. • Found one worth driving to? Turn it into a shoot plan, or put it in your calendar with a reminder to be set up before it happens. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: Say how you got the shot, not just what the camera recorded. • Spec Card already reads your photo's settings. Now you can add what the file can't say — under Technique, whether you were handheld or on a tripod, what was on the front of the lens, and whether the frame is a stack. • Filters combine the way they do in your bag: a polarizer and a 6-stop ND together, a graduated ND on top of both. Each is its own switch, so you can describe what you actually used. • Shot a focus stack, or an astro integration? Type the frame count — hundreds is normal, so you type it instead of tapping it up one at a time. • Everything sits on one screen now, with the card right above it. Pick the look, change a setting, and watch the card change — no more hopping in and out of a separate sheet to see what it says. • Leave it all alone and your card looks exactly as it always did. It never invents "handheld" or "no filter" to fill space. Fixed: • Opening the app with no usable signal — on a plane, underground, or on Wi-Fi that never quite connects — could leave you waiting on "Syncing your spots…". Your library lives on your device, so now it opens straight into it. • The keyboard always has a way down now, on every screen with a number to type. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: See the place before you drive there. • A spot you haven't photographed yet used to show an empty square. Now it shows a real photograph of that place — so you can tell at a glance whether it's worth the trip. • Every photograph is openly licensed, with the photographer who took it credited underneath and a link to the original. • No photograph for that spot? Tap "See this place" for a ground-level look around the pin instead. Also new: • Move a pin that landed in the wrong place. Open a spot's location, drag the map, and drop the pin where you actually stood — for when GPS drifted under tree cover or between tall buildings. Plus fixes: paid features no longer disappear when the App Store and our server briefly disagree, and the sign-in screen now wears the app icon. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: Plan your shoot as a route. • Turn any of your maps into an ordered day-route. Drop your spots into the sequence you'll actually shoot them in, and Viewpoint shows the drive, walk or bike time and distance for the run — following real roads. • One tap hands the next leg to Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze for turn-by-turn directions. • Let the light set the order: sort a route by the best light at each stop, by the shortest distance, or by each spot's best time — starting from your location or any stop you pick. Also new: • Add a spot by typing its address or a place name, right from the create menu — no need to already be standing there. • Search your Maps list by name or by where their spots sit. • Every spot's map now draws which way the sun and moon rise and set, so you can picture the light before you go. • Tag each spot's best light — sunrise, golden hour, blue hour, sunset or night. • A polished new opening animation when the app starts. Plus fixes: adding a spot by address is rock-solid, and Back from a route map returns you to that map. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: Compress — get a huge export down to a shareable size, right on your phone. • Drop in a photo and either set a target size — say 10 MB — or dial the quality yourself, and Viewpoint works out the settings to hit it. • Save as JPEG, PNG or HEIC, with a live size estimate before you commit. • It all runs on-device and fully offline — your full-resolution original never leaves your phone. • It's in Shortcuts too, so a heavy file can be shrunk in a single tap or a whole automation. Plus polish and fixes across the app. New tools ship almost every week.

Viewpoint now speaks Japanese. • 日本語（ベータ）— the whole app is available in Japanese, from capture and the almanac through to the planning tools. • It's an early beta while we polish the wording. If a phrase reads oddly, Settings has a one-tap way to tell us — it goes straight to the developer, and we refine it. That's seven languages in all: English, Portuguese, Spanish, German, French, Dutch and Japanese. Plus polish and fixes across the app. New tools ship almost every week.

NEW: a real-time Light Meter, always in your pocket. • Point your phone at the scene and read the exposure straight off the camera: EV, aperture, shutter and ISO. • Tap the shadows and highlights to spot-meter the tones that matter, see the whole scene on a Zone System ruler, and place a tone exactly where you want it. • Reciprocity correction for film, a live histogram and colour temperature, all on-device and fully offline. • Freeze a frame to experiment, then save the reading with its GPS to a new or existing spot. Also: reach your alerts from the bell on any Locations view, and tap a forecast to open that exact spot on the map. Plus polish and fixes across the app. New tools ship almost every week.

What's new in 1.4.2 A cleaner home for your spots and your storytelling. • LOCATIONS, TWO WAYS — your saved spots now live in one place. See them as a grid, or tap Map for the same spots on the map, with the day's light and conditions and nearby public spots to discover. Gallery and Explore are now one tab. • STUDIO, ITS OWN TAB — the tools that turn a shot into a post (panoramas, the grid slicer, spec cards, before-and-after and more) now have their own Studio tab, a tap away. • A SMOOTHER FIRST RUN — the quick tour that points out what's new is tidier and lands where it should. Everything runs on your device, and it's all included in your Viewpoint plan. Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.

What's new in 1.4.1 More ways to plan the shot and share the result. • BEFORE / AFTER WIPE — show the edit, not just the result. Pick your raw scout frame and your finished photo, and Viewpoint builds a short looping video where a labelled line sweeps across, revealing the final shot over the original. • SEE YOUR DEPTH OF FIELD — the depth-of-field calculator now shows you the blur, so you can see exactly what will be sharp. A new compare-lenses view puts two focal lengths side by side to help you pick the right one before you head out. • PANORAMA PAN, NOW VERTICAL — turn a wide panorama into a full-screen vertical Reel or Story, with the motion matched to your frame and a clean reveal at the end. • SKY EVENTS, ONE TAP AWAY — meteor showers, eclipses, supermoons and more now have their own card in Sky & Light, so the next thing worth shooting is always in reach. Everything runs on your device, and it's all included in your Viewpoint plan. Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.

What's new in 1.4.0 Viewpoint comes to iPad — and four new Studio tools land on your iPhone. • MADE FOR IPAD — Viewpoint is now a universal app with a true iPad layout: a sidebar instead of the tab bar, your library and maps side by side with the detail next to the list, and every screen working in portrait and landscape. Scout in the field with your iPhone, plan on the big canvas at home. • SPEC CARD — pick a photo and Viewpoint reads its shooting settings, then burns them onto a shareable card: aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length, camera and lens, laid out razor-sharp over your shot. Fix or fill in the camera and lens labels when a photo reports them oddly. • GRID SLICER — turn one photo into a profile-grid mosaic: a 3-column block (3×1 up to 3×4) that reassembles into the whole image across the top of your Instagram grid, with tiles exported already in posting order. • SHARE THE PLAN — turn a saved shoot plan and your result photo into a branded, shareable card, with a small map of where you stood, what you aimed at — and where the light sat. Your location always shows as a wide area, never the exact spot. • SETUP VS. THE SHOT — pair a behind-the-scenes moment with the finished frame it produced in one short vertical reel: pick the cut, set the timing, add captions, and post. • Studio remembers your creator handle across cards, and the map's zoom-out globe is back. Heads-up for iPad owners who already ran the iPhone app on iPad: you'll be asked to sign in once after this update — everything else is right where you left it. What's new in 1.3.0 A fresh new look for Viewpoint. • A UNIFIED DESIGN — Viewpoint now wears the same deep, low-glare dark theme across your iPhone and the web app, with a warm amber accent that keeps the moment that matters in front of you. Made for pre-dawn scouting and easy on the eyes in the field. • A NEW APP ICON — a redesigned camera-and-map-pin mark to match, adapting to your iPhone's Light, Dark, and Tinted home-screen styles. One Viewpoint, whether you're planning on the trail or at your desk. All your spots, maps, and plans are right where you left them. Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.

What's new in 1.2.0 You planned it, you hiked out, you got the shot. Now Studio helps you share it: • PANORAMA CAROUSEL — take a sweeping panorama and slice it into a set of perfectly aligned tiles that swipe together as one seamless image in an Instagram carousel. Pick how many slices (2–10); Viewpoint handles the framing so every tile lines up edge to edge. • PANORAMA PAN — turn a panorama into a smooth vertical video that glides across the scene, ready to post as a Reel, Story, or TikTok — perfect for a vista a single frame can't hold. • STUDIO — the new home for your media tools. The Tools hub is now organized into Sky & Light, Photo Scouting, and Studio, so the right tool is easier to find. • FIND YOUR VIEWPOINT, POLISHED — the where-to-stand planner got a smarter subject search, cleaner results, and a smoother path from a suggestion into a saved shoot plan. Plus reliability fixes, including automatic recovery of photo links after long offline stretches. Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.

Find Your Viewpoint — tell Viewpoint what you want to shoot, and it finds where to stand: • FIND YOUR VIEWPOINT — name your subject (a cathedral, a peak, a lighthouse) and Viewpoint's AI suggests real places you could stand so the sun, moon, or Milky Way lines up behind it — with the date and time each alignment happens, the distance and direction to walk, and the lens to bring. It's the alignment planner run in reverse: not "when does it line up from here?" but "where do I go, and when?" • REAL PLACES ONLY — every suggestion is a reachable spot plotted on the map, and every angle, time, and distance is computed by the astronomy engine, never invented. Tap one to open a shoot plan, framed and ready to fine-tune and save. • IN YOUR OWN WORDS — add a detail like "next full moon" or "behind the top cross" and Viewpoint reads it in your language to narrow the search. Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.

Viewpoint comes to the web — plus live sync across your devices: • VIEWPOINT ON THE WEB — pick up your scouting on the big screen at web.getviewpoint.app: your library, maps, and alignment planning in any browser, signed in to the same account. Included with your subscription. • DESKTOP ALERTS — get notified on your computer the moment a watched condition lines up, even with no Viewpoint tab open. • LIVE SYNC — capture or edit on one device and it shows up on your others right away, no manual refresh. • RELIABILITY & POLISH — your subscription self-heals so access is never wrongly locked, and an open spot refreshes after a background sync. • Bug fixes Thank you for shooting with Viewpoint — tell us what you'd like to see next.
