Steep is a journal for one thought a day.
Each morning, a single thought lands on your phone. You can steep it (sit with it, keep it) or pour it (let it go). That's the whole rhythm.
There is no streak counter. There is no daily score. Sundays default to a quiet rest day with no notification. If you miss a day, nothing breaks. If you miss a week, the app waits.
Over months, the thoughts you keep accumulate into something quietly meaningful. A list of threads you returned to. A small portrait of what you paid attention to. A year, in cross-section.
What you get for free:

• Threads, the topics you returned to, gathered automatically
• A weekly silence on by default
Premium adds six slow artefacts that build over months:
• Pull the thread, a layered re-reading of today's thought — three hand-written reflections pulled one at a time, deepening what you came to sit with
• Thread Letters, a short letter on the first of each month composed from the thoughts you kept that month
• Your Virtues, a slow self-portrait that fills in across six axes as you steep
• Your Rings, a 12-month cross-section of the threads that shaped your year
• Your Words, a typeset page of the words your kept thoughts keep returning to, sized by how often each one came up
• Your Year, once a year a long letter composed from twelve months of kept thoughts, with the artefact trio compiled into a single printed-feeling page
• The full archive, with no horizon
Steep is private by design. Your reflections never leave your phone. There is no analytics, no sync, no server, no account. Apple sees only that you're subscribed. We never see your reflections.
A small, careful piece of software, made by one person, slowly.

Your archive now syncs to your iCloud account. The thoughts you've kept move with you when your phone does, so a new device starts where the old one left off.
Three smaller additions:
· A lock-screen widget for today's thought, when you only need to glance.
· A quiet nod after your first fortnight. No badge, no streak.
· For Premium subscribers, four app icons to pick from in Settings. Sage stays the default. Paper, Espresso and Midnight are new.
Plus a tidier Settings layout. Your Thinker portrait now sits higher up, beside the rest of who-you-are.
