Hexel Editor is a fast, native macOS hex editor for developers, reverse engineers, and security researchers. It's built to feel right at home on the Mac — a clean, Xcode-style document window with a navigator, a precise hex grid, and an inspector that decodes whatever sits under your cursor. Open any binary file, jump to any offset, find any pattern, edit a byte, and save safely. Files of any size are welcome: large files are memory-mapped so they open instantly and stay responsive while you work. EDIT WITH CONFIDENCE • Insert, overwrite, and delete bytes • Read-only, Overwrite, and Insert modes • Edit in the hex column nibble-by-nibble or type directly into the ASCII column • Unlimited undo and redo • Atomic, safe saving that won't corrupt your file FIND ANYTHING, FAST • Go to Offset in hex (0x…), octal (0o…), or decimal • Hex pattern search with ?? wildcards for don't-care bytes • Text search in UTF-8, UTF-16 LE/BE, and ASCII • Jump between matches with results shown by offset and preview UNDERSTAND THE BYTES • Live data inspector decodes Int/UInt 8–64, Float32/64, binary, hex, and string values at the cursor • Little-endian and big-endian, toggled instantly • Built-in format parsers reveal the structure of Mach-O, PE, ELF, PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, ZIP, gzip, and PDF files — click a field to jump straight to its bytes ANALYZE • Checksums: CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 • Entropy and byte-frequency histogram over a selection or the whole file ANNOTATE AND SHARE • Named, colored bookmarks for the ranges that matter • Plain-text notes attached to any byte range • Export and import bookmarks and notes as .hexel files, stored centrally or as sidecar files alongside your binaries MADE FOR THE MAC • Configurable bytes-per-row (8, 16, 32, or Auto) • Offset column in hex or decimal, grouped hex bytes, and an optional ASCII column • Adjustable font size and colorized bytes • Copy as raw bytes, hex string, C array, or Swift array literal • A status bar that always tells you where you are PRIVATE BY DESIGN Hexel Editor has no network access, no analytics, and no tracking.
