Phonic turns English pronunciation into a game. You see an English word, build its pronunciation with IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) symbols, and Phonic shows you exactly which sound you got wrong. Practise British or American English, from your first phonetics lesson to exam preparation. HOW IT WORKS • Get a word, from short one-syllable words to long words with tricky stress. • Tap the IPA symbols to build its phonetic transcription. From level 5 you also place the stress mark. • Check your answer: Phonic highlights the exact phoneme that is off, so you learn from every mistake. • Stuck? Read the definition, listen to the audio or ask for a hint. Each aid costs a few points. TWO GAMES • Guess Pronunciation: you get the word, you write the IPA. 20 levels of increasing difficulty, with progress and accuracy tracked for each one. • Guess Word: read an IPA transcription and find the English word it spells.
