Lingua comes with a built-in AI translation model. There’s no account to create, no API key to find, and no extra model to download before your first translation.
YOUR WORDS STAY WITH YOU
Some things belong on your own computer. With local translation, your text stays on your Mac instead of being sent to a cloud translation service. Image text recognition happens locally, too.
FROM SCREENSHOT TO SOMETHING YOU CAN READ
Paste a screenshot or drag in an image. Lingua extracts the text so you can check it and translate it. Working with a text or Markdown file? Drop that in, too.
FIND THE RIGHT WORDS
An email shouldn't sound like a research paper. Guide your translation with natural, formal, or faithful wording and a choice of subject areas. Add your preferred terminology to the glossary, then edit the result beside the original.

That useful phrase from yesterday? Find it in your local history. Search your latest 100 translations, reopen one, and keep working. Copy your translation or export it as a text file.
READY WHEN THE INTERNET ISN'T
On a flight, on a train, or at a desk with unreliable Wi-Fi—the built-in model works offline after you install the app.
MORE CHOICE WHEN YOU WANT IT
Try additional supported models from the model library, or connect your own compatible API service. Extra model downloads need internet access. API mode sends your text and relevant glossary terms to your chosen service; local translation doesn't require it.
