Too Flawed for the Cost
While this app really seems to hit the sweet spot for me in learning lexical chunks in Czech, I am increasingly irritated with the sloppy pronunciations I’m encountering.
For example, in the phrase ‘Ne, všechno je v pořádku’, the speaker completely drops ‘je v’ (slow it down to .5 and listen). You cannot drop a preposition like that, especially when trying to learn a precise language like Czech. In addition, he does not pronounce the Ř in ‘pořadku’. Did you have a Slovak record these? I’m lucky that I know the Czech alphabet and pronunciation well enough to notice the errors, but if I were a true beginner I would be learning a lot of things flat-out wrong.
I’m in the trial period for this app and like a lot of things about it. However, I am having a really hard time justifying paying $30 PER MONTH for a product with a fundamental flaw like this. If it were $10 per month it would be easier to swallow as I would just recognize the mistakes and move on. If you’re going to charge a premium, you have to get the fundamentals right.
