MindNode: Mind Map & Outline 4+

I am using mindnode for many years, it is still the best mind map app, but I am really missing the manual layout in this new version. This missing feature causes problems in importing older documents and implementation of it should have the highest priority.

It was good application before you have transferred documents to hidden location. That is made application unusable.
In response to the developer’s answer:
You are overreaching by arbitrarily enforcing a single method of file handling. This is not only inappropriate — it may also be legally problematic for the following reasons:
a) Your software’s declared purpose is diagram creation, not file system control. The new forced behavior alters the way I organize my files on my device, violating the principle of functional separation and exceeding the legitimate purpose of the application.
b) You do not offer any opt-out or alternative configuration, thereby violating the user’s right to informational self-determination and freedom of choice, as outlined in Article 5(1)(b) and 5(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — data minimization and purpose limitation.
Additionally, this appears to be an unacceptable commercial tactic that forces users to migrate their files to an unknown storage system — one that may involve elevated risks, unclear data handling policies, and potential additional costs.
I urge you to reconsider this approach and respect user agency by either restoring the previous behavior or providing a clearly visible and accessible configuration option.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way! There is a difference between how documents are stored on MindNode Next and MindNode Classic. This is why you're documents don't show up instantly. However, you can import your files from MindNode Classic to MindNode Next using the following steps:
To import your documents from MindNode Classic to MindNode Next, open your Finder and search for the document you’d like to import. Drag the file to the MindNode Next icon. This will automatically open it in MindNode Next.

Update: Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding our new document management. We understand that the new system is not a viable solution for all users and it’s the reason why we are continuing to support our previous app. In the future we also plan to support external documents in MindNode Next, but unfortunately our conflict-free syncing solution will be limited to documents managed in MindNode. Regarding your concerns regarding our data handling policies: we don’t store any data. All data is stored on iCloud. Please send us an email if you have detailed questions (support@mindnode.com)

I really miss the folder support in Next or the alternative way of organizing and categorizing files.
