Ratings and Reviews
One of the better apps
Sony Headphones app is certainly one of the better apps for headphones control.
On the bright side it is stable and does what it’s meant to do well.
However I’d appreciate a dark mode, ideally one that is not linked to iOS settings. Since I use the app often in dark, it is dearly missed every time the white background shines through my eyes.
Devices ok, the app is really bad!
Both WF and WH headphones are ok. They sound great, but drop connection more than I’d like. But the app simply fails to deliver.
Can not connect with headphones, even if they play music already. Does not recognize the device connected. I have both WF-s and WH-s and it refuses to switch device, even manually, and stubbornly tries to connect the other.
Headphones update takes ages - the latest WH update downloaded in 4 seconds and than it took 2 hours and 17 minutes to transfer it to the headphones sitting by the phone, not playing, or doing anything.
The UI was updated recently, but IMHO for the worst. Why there are tabs? Why the top banner takes so much space doing nothing? Why are important controls hidden behind clickable text labels, so you have to experiment to find how to change settings?
So, it could be worse, I guess, but it’s definitely not a good experience and takes away off the great product. Thankfully the headphones play even without the app.
Developers, please read the Apple design guide for UX and stick to it. And try some testing, its going to help a lot. :-)
volume control will be upgraded
Too bad you can't change the volume directly on the headphones. Maybe the next upgrade ...
Otherwise, the sound is excellent, the soundproofing is perfect and the battery life is really fantastic - headphones for about 3.5 - 4 hours of sound playback and with a docking station up to 4x.
