People power meets the open road in this amazing navigation app. Waze’s crowd-sourced alerts come from real drivers, not algorithms, delivering info you won’t see anywhere else to keep your commute flowing. The friendly interface and convenient detour routing really help the app shine, and its social-network integration make road trips with buddies a blast.
Disaster

I have been using Waze for several years but I have decided to delete today. I have had enough. It used to be great app, but for the last year or so it has become a nightmareif you need to use it frequently. In about 50% of time, it takes several MINUTES before it catches a signal and starts showing you the proper way. So you would have to wait almost every time when you sit in your car before you can go if you need Waze to show you the way. Also, which is even worse, it started to take me through small side roads instead of highways quite frequently, eventhough I have highways selected in options. And, also, it gets lost very often as well. You go through town and all of sudden Waze starts going backwards (!!!) or losts its way and you are left in the middle of somewhere not knowing where to go... For me, garbage! Bye!
What happened to the great navigation?

I have been happily using Waze in conjunction with my iPhone and then CarPlay in the car for many years. Mainly that after entering my appointment into the calendar, Waze automatically retrieved the address and then sent me 1. a notification about 1.5h before and 2. a notification 10 minutes before the ideal departure time. For over a year now, I've been dealing with a problem in CarPlay where after starting, Waze starts to lag until the map completely breaks down. I have to switch to some setting in the car menu, and when I return to the Waze map it tends to be fine for the rest of the drive. But the worst started recently. After one of the last updates, I spent some time looking for where the scheduled rides disappeared to. But I found it and it worked like old times. But about a week ago, my calendar items stopped loading or showing up in "Schedule a Ride". I didn't change anything in the settings. On the contrary checked and everything is set correctly as before. I reinstalled Waze, reset my phone (I have an iPhone 13 with the latest version of iOS 16.6). What's extra weird is that even though there is nothing visibly loaded in "Schedule a ride", I get a departure notification sometimes 10 minutes before the ride.So I can't rely on Waze anymore and use a different navigation.
Outdated landscape mode

Long time user, enjoy the app in both the portrait mode and in carplay. However, when I drive our company car, carplay isn’t an option and the built-in phone holder allows me to use waze in landscape mode only. And man, it is a nightmare. It honestly looks like no one cares about it and any visual updates and improvements are only built for the other modes. For example, any alert, such as those for speed cameras, is a screen-wide rectangle and takes up almost half of the screen. Combined with all other displayed information, it covers most of the map. Even google maps have a visually more pleasing environment. That’s why I’m only giving a four star review.
