‣ Can I edit the text in the app?
I don't plan to support any editing. Export the transcription and edit it in a proper text editor.
‣ Why is the app so large?
The app delivers the highest quality transcription on the market for 100 different languages. Rather than asking why it's so large, the real question is how is it so small.
‣ Why is the transcription so slow?
The favors accuracy over speed. However, performance is expected to improve in the coming months.
‣ Can I delete some of the languages to save space?
This is unfortunately not possible. The model has all the languages stored together in a way that makes it impossible to remove just some languages.

■ Technical details
The app uses the Whisper large v2 model on macOS and the medium or small model on iOS depending on available memory.
■ Privacy
The transcription is done locally on your device. Nothing leaves your device. The app is not even able to connect to the internet due to self-imposed restrictions that are enforced by macOS (no network entitlement).

Unentbehrlicher Assistent für den Alltag
Ich nutze die Aiko-App nun seit einigen Monaten beinahe täglich und sie hat sich als ein wahrhaft unverzichtbarer Begleiter in meinem Alltag etabliert. Die Fähigkeit der App, Gespräche und Vorträge präzise zu transkribieren, hat meine Produktivität und Organisation erheblich verbessert. Ihre intuitive Benutzeroberfläche und die zuverlässige Leistung, selbst bei längeren Aufnahmen, sind bemerkenswert. Die Tatsache, dass Aiko auf Genauigkeit setzt, bedeutet, dass die Transkripte wenig bis keine Nachbearbeitung benötigen – ein enormer Vorteil für einen beschäftigten Lebensstil. Aiko ist mehr als nur eine Transkriptions-App; sie ist ein treuer Assistent, der mir hilft, effizienter und organisierter zu sein.

Ich bin durch Macwelt auf diese App aufmerksam gewordenund kann die positive Bewertung nur bestätigen: die Transkription von Audio zu Text funktioniert mit der App sehr gut. Dabei ist die App vollständig auf dem Rechner und somit bleibt auch die Datei privat.
Jedoch sehe ich in der Handhabung noch Verbesserungsbedarf. Aus unerklärlichen Gründen löscht er zuvor transkribierte Texte und überschreibt sie mit dem neuen Text. Vorher sichern ist auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert. Schön wäre es, wenn die App auch die Historie behält.

Und wieder stellt uns Sindre Sorhus ein wunderbares Tool zur Verfügung, das dem, der Verwendung dafür hat, die Arbeit enorm erleichtert bzw. ganz neue Möglichkeiten eröffnet. Inzwischen bin ich von den Apps dieses Entwicklers so begeistert, dass ich sofort hellhörig werde, wenn ich von einer neuen Arbeit aus dem Haus Sorhus höre. Seine Apps sind immer sauber programmiert, schlank und einfach in der Anwendung.
