Your home is under attack. The king is dead at the hands of Viking invaders. Hope is a distant glimmer in the fog, fading fast with every passing moment. As you rise to take your father’s place as ruler, it will fall to you to stage your defenses. But make no mistake – this is no fight for victory, but a desperate grasp for survival.
Bad North is a charming but brutal real-time tactics roguelite. Defend your idyllic island kingdom against a horde of Viking invaders, as you lead the desperate exodus of your people. Command your loyal subjects to take full tactical advantage of the unique shape of each island. Everything is at stake: fail, and watch the blood of your subjects stain the ground red.
It’s charmingly brutal, with beautiful procedurally-generated islands and adorable soldiers juxtaposed against the blood-stained realities of war. You control the broad strokes of the battle, giving high level commands to your soldiers who try their best to carry them out in the heat of the moment. It’s accessibly deep, with simple player inputs masking a dynamic combat simulation that make it inviting to new players while challenging veterans.
Keep fighting, warriors. Not for power or riches or glory, but for hope of peace to come once again in the harsh lands of the Bad North.

Kurzweilig ABER
Wie schon von vielen anderen beschrieben ist das Spiel grafisch ansprechend, kurzweilig und trotzdem teils strategisch herausfordernd. Leider zeigen sich die Bugs als größtes Manko. Spielstände die am Tag zuvor noch sauber liefen, werden nicht mehr geladen und sind somit samt Fortschritt weg. Teils auch innerhalb eines runde beim Laden der nächsten Insel. Die ist besonders ärgerlich, wenn man ohne Neustart der Inseln spielt, also sich freut Weit gekommen zu sein ohne eine Truppe zu verlieren. Dadurch kommt dann doch arger Frust auf. Hier sollte der Entwickler zeitnah Abhilfe schaffen, dann lohnt sich sich der Preis für ein gutes Spiel ohne nervige in App Käufe.
Im Verlauf wären Erweiterungen nich eine Option. Bautrupps für Türme, oder auch Spieler als „Invasor“ und der PC verteidigt.

Richtig, richtig gut!
Als PC Gamer habe ich Spiele für iPad und Co nie ernst genommen. Bad North macht allerdings alles richtig: es ist dynamisch, abwechslungsreich, fesselnd und vor allem macht es das Touch Interface sich bestens zu nutze. Dieses Spiel würde ich am PC nicht so gerne spielen wollen, wie am Touch Bildschirm. Ich habe es schon mehrmals durchgespielt, habe aber immer wieder Lust. Was ich insbesondere gut finde: Keine „gold Points“ oder sonstigen Pay To Win Müll, der einem das Geld aus der Tasche zieht. Großartig und jeden Cent wert!
Strategisch, reaktiv-dynamisches Towerdefense
Super Spiel mit Sinn und Verstand, Grafisch minimalistisch aber sauber umgesetzt und ansprechend, Spielprinzip nach dem Motto “easy to learn but hard to master“ zumindest auf der schwierigsten Spielstufe.
Ich hab alles durchgespielt und es gab nie einen Fehler, Absturz, Ruckeln oder irgendetwas anderes.
Es macht Spaß und fühlt sich nicht verdummend an. ;)
Es ist geeignet für ein 10min Spiel oder eine 2h Partie.
Ich kann mir nur noch eine Skalierung nach oben wünschen. (weitere Gegner- und Kommadoeinheite, mehr Skills, mehr Items, mehr und größere Inseln, Evt. Mehr nutzbare Einheiten etc.)
