Improvements: tap a French word while you read and you now see how the verb is conjugated, with the form you tapped highlighted, or whether a noun is masculine or feminine, with its articles. Words with an apostrophe, such as "m'aiment", are now looked up correctly. Shadowing practice now carries on from where it stopped if your connection drops, and each word can repeat up to ten times. On and off switches are also easier to tell apart. Going back from a deck, or from any other screen, now works every time on iOS 26, and full-screen panels no longer sit under the clock.

Improvements when you look up a word, you now see which language it is being translated from and to, and you can change either one with a tap. Finding your language is quicker too, with a search box on every language list. Text on badges and buttons is also easier to read.

Improvements: add community decks in your language, choose from many more languages for your decks, clearer CELPIP speaking results, a more compact results page, and panels that open full screen.

Shadowing at your own pace The pause between two words used to be a fixed length you set once for the whole run, which is never right for both a single word and a full sentence. Turn off "Move on by itself" in the shadowing settings and the run now waits after each word for as long as you need, with a button to hear it again and a button to move on. Left on, which it is by default, nothing changes. No more sudden closes On some iPhones the app could close by itself after a while. It was holding far more memory than it needed for pictures.

Practice cards you can actually read The pronunciation on a word card is now set large and clear instead of too small to make out, and hearing a word is a proper labelled button under it rather than a tiny icon in the corner. Tapping the word turns the card over On the question side, tapping the word used to open the dictionary, which answered the card for you. It now simply turns the card over. Once the answer is showing, tapping any word opens the dictionary as before. Your text size setting applies to the whole session Reading size only ever changed the plain word card. Every other kind of practice now follows it too, and starts from a larger, easier size. A new opening The app opens on a short greeting that travels through the languages it teaches before settling on our name, and gets out of your way in about two seconds instead of four. Fixes and refinements Small fixes and internal improvements to keep the app running smoothly.

Listening that keeps going with the screen off Shadowing and a deck's Play all are things you listen to rather than watch, so they now behave that way. Lock your phone or switch to another app and the words keep coming, exactly as hands-free review already did. Shadowing now tells you how the run is set up The drill opens on a card that lays out the run — how many words, how many times each one is read, and how long a gap you get to repeat into — and every one of those is a tap away from being changed. It says so while the first words are being prepared, and if the audio cannot be made ready it offers to try again. A progress bar for the drill itself The bar at the top of a shadowing run now counts the words in that run and shows the time you have spent listening, so you can watch the drill move from the first word to the last. Play all starts from the word you picked Tap a word in a deck's list and Play all begins there instead of going back to the top. Shuffle still applies to everything after it, so the word you chose plays first and the rest of the list follows in a new order. You are told when a word cannot be read aloud If a word cannot be turned into audio, listening now stops and says so instead of leaving you on a silent screen. This applies to both shadowing and a deck's Play all.

A word list view for your decks Any deck can now be read as a single list, with every word, its pronunciation, its type and its meaning on one line. Play all reads the list aloud from top to bottom. You can shuffle the order, choose how many times to go through it, and set how long a gap to leave between words. Hide the meanings to test yourself as you read down, and a stopwatch shows how long the pass took. Shadowing: hear a word, say it back A hands-free pronunciation drill inside your study session. Switch it on and a new control appears at the top of the session. Each word is spoken, and then there is a pause long enough for you to say it back before the next one arrives. That pause is measured from the moment the sound actually ends, so a long word is never cut short and a short one never leaves you waiting in silence. Choose how many words to practise in a run, how long the pause lasts, how many times each word is repeated and how many rounds to play, and have the meaning read aloud if you want it. Settings that fit the moment The settings you can reach while studying are now the ones worth changing part-way through a session, and they sit alongside the other display controls instead of behind a button of their own.

Study hands-free with Auto-Review Turn on Auto-Review in your study settings and let the app work through your cards for you — it reads each word aloud, shows the meaning after a short pause, then moves on at the pace you choose. It is a relaxed, no-tapping way to review while you cook, commute, or rest your eyes, and it keeps playing even when your screen is off, with play and pause on your lock screen. Hear more languages Words are now read aloud in more languages, including Persian, so both sides of a card can be spoken, not just the English one.

See your progress when an episode ends Finish a podcast and you now get a friendly recap of your session — your study time, the words you explored, your level and the experience you earned — followed by a handpicked list of episodes to listen to next, so you can keep going with a single tap. A better full-screen reading mode Double-tap the subtitles to slip into full-screen, and double-tap again to come back. In full-screen the text now fills the whole page, and the controls rest on a clean background instead of showing through the words. Subtitles that always fit Large subtitles no longer run off the edge of the screen — the text gently scales down to fit the current line, so you always see the whole sentence. You can now also tap words in the lines just before and after the current one, so a word that scrolled past is still only a tap away. More reliable podcast artwork Episode covers load more smoothly, and shows without their own artwork now display a clean FlexiLingo cover instead of an empty tile.

Control playback from your lock screen Podcasts now appear on your lock screen and in Control Center, with the show's name and artwork. Play, pause and skip without opening the app, and the audio keeps going while you do other things. A distraction-free listening mode Tap the new focus button in the player to hide everything but the subtitles. The controls quietly fade away while you listen and come right back the moment you touch the screen. Pick up where you left off Leave an episode partway through and the player offers to continue from the exact spot when you return, so you never lose your place. Subtitles sized your way Set the subtitle text anywhere from comfortable to extra-large with a simple slider and a live preview. Your choice is now remembered from one episode to the next. An easier subtitle sync The sync screen jumps straight to the line you are on and highlights it clearly, with larger, easier-to-read text.

Each tab tells you what it is sorting by, filters by language, level and topic, and keeps loading more as you scroll. Explore, rebuilt Community decks now open on a browsing surface with Newest and Popular tabs, so you can see what learners are publishing right now instead of digging for it. A better voice for every word Pronunciation across the app now uses our own natural-sounding voice, and reading longer passages aloud works properly — no more silent taps on a long sentence.
