Handy Tools puts a complete jobsite toolkit on your Home Screen — from metal detection to sound analysis, precise levelling to GPS compass. Every measurement is saved automatically and can be exported in seconds.
WHAT'S INSIDE
1. Metal Scanner
Your phone's magnetometer picks up ferrous metals — nails, screws, steel studs, rebar — hidden behind drywall, plaster, or tile. A live micro-tesla gauge and adjustable sensitivity threshold give you full control over detection. Calibrate once, scan with confidence.
2. Spirit Level
Lay your device on any surface and read the tilt instantly. The bubble indicator responds in real time, accurate to a tenth of a degree. Works in both landscape and portrait orientation — ideal for shelves, countertops, and appliance installs.
3. Sound Meter
A real-time decibel display that tracks current, minimum, and peak noise. Five colour-coded bands — from Silent to Harmful — make it easy to evaluate workshop noise, check room acoustics, or document sound conditions on a jobsite.
4. Compass
Calibrated through Core Location, so it reads exactly like the built-in iOS compass. Shows magnetic or true heading, cardinal direction, plus your latitude and longitude for site orientation and outdoor layout work.
5. Ruler
Place small parts on the screen and measure directly — toggle between centimetres and inches without reaching for a tape.
6. Protractor
Touch to set an angle, then lock the reading. Handy for mitre cuts, trim work, and verifying corner angles during framing.
7. Flashlight
Instant torch for crawl spaces, attics, panel boxes, and anywhere else the overhead light doesn't reach.
SAVE & EXPORT
Tap the bookmark icon on any tool screen to store a reading. All saved measurements live in the History tab where you can:
- Filter by tool type
- Swipe to remove individual entries
- Clear everything at once
- Export a timestamped CSV — complete with device info — and share it via email, AirDrop, or any file app
HOME SCREEN WIDGET
Add a small or medium widget to see your most recent measurement without launching the app — useful for repeated checks during a project.

SENSOR NOTE
Metal detection relies on the iPhone magnetometer and responds only to iron-based (ferrous) metals. Aluminium, copper, and brass will not register. Wall thickness, phone case material, and nearby electronics can affect readings. For best accuracy, remove protective cases before scanning.
