Q: How does Parachute save space while backing up iCloud?
A: Parachute downloads one file at a time from iCloud, backs it up to your chosen destination, and then re-offloads the file back to iCloud (if "Optimize Mac Storage" is enabled). This prevents your disk from filling up during backup.
Q: What backup modes are available?
A: Parachute offers three backup modes:
Full: Always copies all files, even if unchanged.
Mirror: Keeps the backup in exact sync with the source, including deletions.

Auf der Suche nach einem Backup-Programm für iCloud bin ich letztlich bei Parachute Backup gelandet. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Lösungen werden hier nicht erst sämtliche Daten von iCloud auf das Gerät heruntergeladen (was bei großem Cloud-Speicher aber kleiner Festplatte auch gar nicht funktionieren würde), sondern intelligent immer nur die wirklich neuen Dateien von der Cloud kurz geladen, gesichert und dann wird die lokale Kopie auf dem Laptop direkt wieder gelöscht. Sowohl zeitgesteuertes als auch manuelles Update funktionieren zuverlässig und schnell im Hintergrund. Super Lösung! :-)

Ich habe lange gesucht und jetzt endlich gefunden, was ich brauche. Im Internet gibt es so einige Programme, mit denen man seine iCloud Daten sichern kann. Allerdings sind diese völlig überteuert für 59,90 € ein Abo im Jahr für die gleichen Funktionen, die dieses sehr preiswerte Programm kann vielen Dank weiter so

Die App macht genau das, was sie soll. Das unkomplizierte Backup aller iCloud Dateien auf die lokale Festplatte.Mein Cloud-Speicher war ständig voll, aber jetzt kann ich beruhigt alte Fotos und Videos löschen.Die Inhalte werden in einer Ordnerstruktur im Format Jahr -> Monat -> Tag gesichert, also empfiehlt es sich, eine entsprechende Software zu nutzen, um später etwas wiederzufinden.

Ich nutze Time Machine und auch weiterhin, zusätzlich nutze ich Parachute um meine iCloud Photos in voller Auflösung auf einer weiteren externen SSD zu sichern da iCloud nur ein Sync ist - aber KEIN Backup - daher ist diese kleine/leichte App mein täglicher Begleiter der sich, nach der Erst-Einrichtung, vollkommen selbständig darum kümmert das sowohl alle meine Photos wie auch iCloud Drive Daten getrennt gesichert werden. Mit der neusten Version gibt es auch Shortcut Triggers.

• Files backups don’t include Photos libraries unless you explicitly include them per folder.
• Added a warning when trying to add the startup disk, home folder, or a system folder as a source.
• Fixed a case where two devices backing up the same library could store a photo twice.
