PHARMACY TECH PREP: PASS YOUR PTCE AND EARN YOUR CPhT
The PTCE has a 55 to 60 percent first-attempt pass rate. Candidates who fail are most often weak on sig code interpretation, days supply calculations, and federal drug regulations. These are also the most heavily tested areas on the ExCPT from NHA.
SIG CODE TRANSLATOR
134 common sig codes organized by category, including retail pharmacy codes such as AAA (apply to affected area), UAD (use as directed), INSTL (instill), IEE (in each eye) and WF (with food). Route codes: PO, SL, TOP, IV, IM, SUBCUT, INH. Frequency codes: BID, TID, QID, QHS, PRN, Q4H, Q6H, Q12H, Q4-6H. Timing codes: AC (before meals), PC (after meals), STAT (immediately). Quantity codes: qs, ss, disp.
Full sig string translator: type a complete sig such as "INSTL 1 gtt IEE BID x7d" and get the plain English directions. Error-prone abbreviations from the ISMP list (such as QD, U, cc and OD) are flagged with what to write instead.
Pro adds My codes (your pharmacy's own codes), favorites pinned to the top of the Sig screen, and printable PDF export. Missing a code? Request it from the Sig screen. Sig tables vary by pharmacy software, so always confirm against your pharmacy system.
DAY SUPPLY CALCULATOR
Tablets and capsules: quantity divided by doses per day. Oral liquids: total mL divided by mL per dose times doses per day. Eye and ear drops: total drops divided by drops per dose per day. Inhalers: puffs per canister divided by puffs per dose per day. Insulin: total units divided by units per day. Transdermal patches: patches dispensed and how often each is changed.
DRUG REFERENCE
30 high-yield drugs with brand and generic name, drug class, common indication, DEA schedule and common dose. Search by brand, generic or class, or filter by drug class.
