Imagine someone who’s always grabbing your phone. Sure, they “just want to google something,” but they somehow ended up scrolling through your Photos app, your Notes, listening to your Audio recordings, and asking way too many questions. Even if you use a passcode, your regular apps aren’t really built for keeping things truly private — an authority may still ask you to unlock whatever you have on there. So you download a random secure vault app from the App Store (which often asks you to subscribe to this and that … and some even enable cloud storage, meaning your private content can end up living on someone else’s servers, where you have “take[n] the risk, in revealing [your] affairs to another,” that it will be shared onward. United States v. Miller, 425 U.S. 435, 443 (1976); see also Smith v. Maryland, 442 U.S. 735, 744 (1979) (noting a person “assumed the risk” the company would disclose the information)). And that matters, because modern phones aren’t just gadgets — “with all they contain and all they may reveal, they hold for many Americans ‘the privacies of life.’” Riley v. California, 573 U.S. 373, 403 (2014). Courts have recognized these “seismic shifts in digital technology” have changed what privacy means in practice. Carpenter v. United States, 585 U.S. 296, 313 (2018). You can indeed download one of those apps from the App Store that “guarantees” you security, then there’s a new problem: if someone sees the app, they might demand you open it too. That’s where SecureVault+ is different. It uses decoy vaults — so you can open a “fake” vault while your real content stays hidden behind a separate one. And now it goes a step further: decoy vaults can contain decoy vaults. In other words, every vault can become its own “main” vault for the layer beneath it. You can build a whole tree of vaults: Main Vault → Decoy Vault 1, Decoy Vault 2, … Decoy Vault 2 → Decoy Vault 2a, Decoy Vault 2b, … Decoy Vault 2a → Decoy Vault 2ai, Decoy Vault 2aii, … Decoy Vault 2b → Decoy Vault 2bi, Decoy Vault 2bii, … …and so on. The key is scope. You can only create and manage a vault’s decoys from inside that vault. So you can manage “Decoy Vault 2a” and “Decoy Vault 2b” only while you’re inside “Decoy Vault 2” — and you can manage “Decoy Vault 2ai” only while you’re inside “Decoy Vault 2a.” That includes changing the passwords for those child vaults: child vault passwords are managed only within their parent vault layer, not from anywhere else. Of course, authorities might ask you to open each vault they can see — but how can they do so without knowing how many layers exist, or how far the structure goes? I programmed the app so you can create basically an unlimited number of decoy vaults—10, 100, 1,000, 10,000, even 900,000—as many as you want, as long as you don’t mind setting a distinct password for each (and your phone can handle it). And in emergencies, deletion stays simple — with one important safety rule: deleting a parent vault deletes all vaults nested inside it (so deleting “Decoy Vault 2” also deletes “Decoy Vault 2a,” “2b,” “2ai,” “2bi,” and everything downstream). SecureVault+ has no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases. Everything is stored locally on your device (no cloud access, no need to register any accounts, and no tracking) because it would “defy common sense” to treat your most private digital information as less deserving of protection. United States v. Warshak, 631 F.3d 266, 285 (6th Cir. 2010). Sometimes “security” isn’t a fortress. It’s a choice. A pause. A second door. A decoy key. And now — a second door behind the second door. A place your private life can still be yours — even when the world insists it shouldn’t be.
