SurfaceScan turns a compatible iPhone or iPad into a local, bounded RGB-D surface-capture tool. Place the bright blue metric box over the surface you want to digitise. Adjust the box with direct gestures or precision controls. SurfaceScan accepts camera-derived colour and measured depth only inside the box’s six clipping planes. Use LIVE while the box remains editable, or lock the box for a fixed protected capture. The app keeps the protected metric mesh separate from its presentation preview. Capture points, capture rate, confidence, mesh resolution, mesh refresh, fusion stability, surface continuity, and preview smoothing can be adjusted without removing the core capture workflow. Review the result, then save or share PLY, OBJ, STL, or USDZ. DIRECT APPLE VISION PRO CAMERA CONNECTION After the required disclosure is accepted on each launch, the iPhone or iPad automatically becomes available to a compatible SurfaceScan app on Apple Vision Pro. When both devices have accepted and Local Network access is available, the apps securely match over Apple’s nearby peer framework. Apple’s transport-connected state is provisional until SurfaceScan verifies the camera and viewer roles, identity, application protocol, and current transport membership. Vision Pro then selects the iOS RGB-D source, applies its current settings, and requests capture. Streaming begins only after the iPhone or iPad confirms current consent, Camera permission, active tracking, and capture readiness. The iPhone or iPad remains the camera, RGB-D sampling, and metric-fusion authority. Apple Vision Pro receives bounded colour RGB-D point samples, calibration and pose information, capture status, colour previews, remote controls, and separately finalized protected meshes. The link does not transmit unrestricted or full-resolution camera video. No Orthopractis cloud account or relay is used. The operator can stop nearby streaming at any time without disabling local capture, preview, save, share, or export. PRIVACY BY DESIGN SurfaceScan has no Orthopractis account, advertising, developer analytics, tracking, or automatic cloud upload. Capture, fusion, preview, and file creation run locally. Apple nearby transfer is direct between compatible accepted devices. Other files leave the app only when the user deliberately selects Save or Share. KEY CAPABILITIES Full-screen RGB-D capture. IMPORTANT LIMITATION SurfaceScan is a surface digitisation and 3D documentation utility. It does not diagnose, screen, monitor, or recommend treatment. Results depend on device sensors, tracking, distance, lighting, texture, motion, occlusion, and operator technique.
