Beschreibung

This application simulates the acoustics of a room and reproduces the sound signals for the two ears of a virtual listener inside the room. Listening to these signals using headphones gives the impression of being inside the room at the position of the listener. Please note that without headphones connected to your iOS device, this app may lead to unpleasant feedback noise.

When run for the first time, this application will install an Audio Unit v3 App Extension that can be used in various third party applications.

The sound sources take their signals from the left and right input channels (coming from a microphone, Inter-App Audio, or the AUv3 host application) and can be moved in real time by dragging the loudspeaker symbols on the screen. The listener can be moved by dragging the head symbol. Alternatively, sliders can be used to set the positions (including along the vertical Z dimension), as well as source gains and the listener azimuth.

The simulated acoustic environment can be chosen from three different rooms with different sizes.

Current settings can be copied in a text format to and from the clipboard.

The unique mirroring function lets you create a balanced stereo setup simply by pressing a button.

Great for IOS musicians mixing with headphones

This is a great solution for checking the translation from a headphone-based mix to speakers. It is the only AUv3 plugin that simulates speaker crosstalk and the ambiance of a real room.

I created a nearfield monitor preset with it, and it sounds like two speakers a meter in front of me - very impressive. From a binaural standpoint, this is top-notch and can compete with other professional headphone mixing solutions like Waves NX or Embody.

I believe the app could be marketed not only as a binaural effect but also as a headphone mixing solution. In recent years, especially due to the pandemic, mixing on headphones has become more popular. Additionally, headphones, such as planars, have improved significantly, and more software solutions have entered the market. However, there's still a gap for IOS music producers.

I think there is a significant demand for headphone mixing solutions, as many iOS musicians primarily work with headphones. I would like to see the following features in VirtualRoom AU:

- A slider to adjust the damping/amount of reverb in a room to simulate a well-tuned studio room.
- A filter to shape the reverb frequency spectrum to achieve a bright or dark-sounding room.

With these features, I believe it would be perfect for mixing.
