- BIRD IDENTIFIER
The app includes a built-in multi-criteria Bird Identifier (Identification Filter) that helps identify an unknown bird using 24 different features. You can select the region of Europe, the bird’s size, plumage colour, streaking, the shape and colour of the beak and feet, distinctive external features, behaviour, habitats, perching posture, song and calls, daily activity, nest size, shape, construction material and location, as well as egg size and colour. The Identifier helps narrow down the possible species.
- COVERAGE
The app covers most of Europe and can be used across most of Northern, Western, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, including Scandinavia, the Baltic States, France, Spain, the Balkans, Transcaucasia, Northern Kazakhstan and neighbouring regions.
- EUROPEAN LANGUAGES
The app is available in 20 European languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and others. Users can choose whichever language they prefer.
- BIRD SONGS AND CALLS
For each of the 515 bird species, the app provides one combined recording, including male song and several typical calls, such as alarm, aggressive, contact and flight calls. Each recording can be played in four different ways: 1) once, 2) on a continuous loop, 3) on a loop with a 10-second interval, or 4) on a loop with a 20-second interval.
- PHOTOS AND DESCRIPTIONS
For each species, the app includes several photos of birds in the wild, including male, female, juvenile and birds in flight, as well as distribution maps and eggs. It also provides a written description covering appearance, behaviour, breeding and feeding habits, distribution and migration.
- IN-APP PURCHASES
The app’s main features are free. For each species, you can view images and text descriptions and add species to Favourites; these features are also available offline. You can also listen to sound recordings when you have an internet connection, no more than once per minute. Paid features allow unlimited use of the Identification Filter and Quiz, access to additional colour images, and offline playback of all bird sound recordings.
- LISTEN TO BIRD SOUNDS IN THE FIELD
With an internet connection, bird sounds can be played directly outdoors. After purchasing the paid features, all functions can also be used offline, including in places without internet access – on birdwatching trips, country walks, expeditions, hunting trips or fishing trips.
