This app offers the possibility to control all Shelly devices remotely. You can monitor and control your devices from anywhere (by using the cloud option) or, if you do not want the Cloud option, you will still be able to monitor and control your devices from within your local network. Shelly devices do not need to be connected to the cloud or to send data there.
The Shelly Home Automation portfolio includes a variety of relay switches, sensors, plugs, bulbs, and other controllers, all connected and controlled through your Wi-Fi network. The new Shelly Plus and Shelly Pro lines of products additionally support Bluetooth connectivity for faster device inclusion and communication, and the new Shelly Pro line offers LAN and Wi-Fi usage simultaneously. Shelly devices are suitable to control lights, garage doors, curtains, window blinds, or other appliances, trigger actions based on certain parameters from sensor devices. Devices provide near real time notification on changes of the parameters they are measuring - energy consumption, temperature other environment values.
All Shelly devices have:
- Embedded Web server
- Wi-Fi control and connectivity
- APIs for observation and control
A user account is required to access, include, and control Shelly devices through the application. Once Shelly account is registered, you can:
- Connect the devices to an existing W-Fi network or use their Access Point mode locally to control other Shelly devices;
- Include, manage, and operate as many Shelly devices as you need;
- Configure devices and manage individual settings on every device;
- Configure custom scheduling for automatic actions;
- Create personalized rooms for more convenient organising and control of the devices;
- Define custom Groups of devices to control multiple devices with one command within the app;
- Build simple and complex scenes by combining Shelly devices to trigger certain actions in your home automation;
- Monitor current and past electrical power consumption of the electrical circuit(s) and loads (for Shelly devices equipped with Power-measuring capabilities);
- Build complex automation solutions for improved energy and operational efficiency;
- Receive real time alerts and notifications based on your preference.
Shelly devices are compatible with other widely used both local and cloud-based home automation platforms like Google Home or Alexa.

The previous Shelly app was mostly a joy to use. The current one feels more like a freemium game, and Shelly should consider carefully if they want to push users away with annoying pop-ups pimping their premium features. I don't know why anyone would want them, but most of all, I don't want them popping up now and then when I want to switch a switch on and off. The new app also broke existing functionality (like have something turn off after an hour when starting it manually - but allow the device to be turned on for three hours if programmed without the one hour limit stopping your program). Lots of things could be improved too - like being able to start a device for X hours in the future (just once) without having to program a weekly schedule for it and having to disable it again after running once. It is also far, far slower than the previous app, and guess what I want when I want to flip a switch? Yes, I want to do it *now*.

The most buggy app from Shelly

I can not say other things that if Shelly try to make seriously good devices with great intentions to be leading on the market with so far great quality products, why on earth are shelly not working to create an app that actually can work with all the devices with out so many confusing settings that actually doesn’t work and constantly device updates that also has directly impact on how the app works together with the app. For me it seems that a couple of teams in Bulgaria develops the devices and a team in china create the app and makes the shelly app and it’s UI and functionality more and more useless and confusing. And it also for me looks like no one knows what the other one is doing?!?🫤 Why not stick you heads together and solve all the problems that just escalates. You could eventually start with one simple item like the shelly HST version 1 that after release of version 2 just gets more and more buggy. I have and idea that a team also is messing around with the shelly cloud, that somehow also involves directly to the behavior of this device and other devices for that’s sake. Come on Shelly… you can do it, but be careful and make sure that all teams works together..
