Cerebro Keyboard: AI Dictation
Voice Typing & Speech to Text
Only for iPhone
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Speak and it's typed, in almost any app. AI modes make it a list or an email, or translate it into one of 30 languages. 20 free transcriptions a month, no account.
Cerebro Keyboard is an AI voice keyboard for iPhone: speech to text right where you type. Tap the orb, speak normally, and your words appear in the text field. If you like, AI rewrites it first: in another tone, as a list or an email, or in another language.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Install Cerebro Keyboard and follow the setup in the app: add the Cerebro keyboard in Settings and turn on "Allow Full Access".
2. In the app you're typing in, switch to the Cerebro keyboard with the globe key. It has no letter keys; to type, the globe key takes you back.
3. Tap the orb and speak. The first time, Cerebro opens for a moment to start the microphone, because iOS doesn't let keyboards use it. Swipe back to your app and keep talking.
4. Tap the orb again when you're done, and your text is typed in.
FEATURES
• Works in almost any app — Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, Notes, Slack and most others. In password fields iOS always switches to its own keyboard, and some apps don't allow third-party keyboards.
• Mic ready for 10 minutes — After each dictation, the next one starts right in the keyboard; once the 10 minutes are up, Cerebro opens for a moment again. iOS shows the orange dot while it's ready, but audio is only recorded and sent when you tap the orb.
• Up to 2 minutes per dictation, 10 with Pro — Enough for a long message or a whole meeting.
• Live Activity — Follow, stop or cancel your dictation in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen.
• AI modes — Pick a mode before you speak or right after a dictation, and your text is rewritten; "Original" brings back your words. Built in: Professional, Concise, Casual, List (bullet points or a to-do list), Email (ready to send), Clean (no swear words) and Translate, into any of 30 languages. Or write your own prompt.
• Community — Modes by people who use Cerebro, like Pirate and Shakespeare, credited to their authors. We check each one before it is published; report or hide any you don't want. Submit your own with "Share with the community".
• Custom dictionary — Add names and terms that often get misheard, so Cerebro spells them right.
• 11 languages — Cerebro detects the language you speak. The app itself speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil).
PRIVACY
What you dictate is processed by AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Don't dictate passwords, card numbers, health information or anything else confidential.
Your recording goes through our server in Germany and OpenRouter to OpenAI and is deleted right after transcription. Your transcripts are stored only on your iPhone. Text you send to an AI mode goes to Claude by Anthropic, on servers that keep nothing. Cerebro doesn't log your keystrokes, and there is no account to create.
PRICING
Cerebro Keyboard is free with 20 transcriptions a month. Cerebro Pro gives you unlimited transcriptions of up to 10 minutes each, billed monthly or yearly; the app shows your country's price before you buy.
Cerebro Keyboard needs an iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later.
The yearly plan starts with a 1-week free trial for new subscribers. When the trial ends, the yearly subscription begins and is charged automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Cerebro Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.

more Dictation got better in four languages: Croatian now comes back in Latin letters, Tamil and Thai no longer type a sentence twice, and Mandarin comes back in Traditional characters on iPhones set to Traditional Chinese. If Cerebro Keyboard saves you typing, a rating in the App Store helps others find it.

Restore Purchases now always gives you an answer, in Settings and on the Cerebro Pro screen: “You're Cerebro Pro” or “No active subscriptions found.” It checks with the App Store first.

Your own AI modes are easier to write: just say what should happen to your text. You get back only the result, in the same language unless you ask for a translation.
After a call or a voice message in another app, dictation no longer gets stuck: if the keyboard can't start the microphone, Cerebro opens and records.
The time a dictation saved you is always shown in full, even on smaller iPhones.
Setup now shows you, step by step, what to switch on in Settings. The practice chat then has you try the one move you'll need in almost any app: tap the globe key to bring up Cerebro, and tap it again for your usual keyboard.
The keyboard is now simply called Cerebro.
VoiceOver now announces each step of the practice, and with large text the practice field no longer cuts off longer messages.

Setup is new: it ticks off each step in Settings as you go, and a practice chat lets you dictate your first message with Cerebro Voice Keyboard without leaving the app.
After a dictation, the keyboard now shows how much typing time it saved you, instead of an amount of money. Once all the time saved is worth more than a month of Pro at your hourly rate, the app shows that amount too. You can change the rate in Settings, under Savings.
Fixed: a tap on the orb while your text was on its way could start a second, empty recording, whose error then hid the dictation that had worked. Keyboard messages that need two lines are no longer cut off.

When something goes wrong, the keyboard now tells you what happened and what comes next. If Cerebro's servers have a problem, your recording is kept and sent again by itself. If an AI mode such as Translate can't run, your text is typed in as you dictated it, and one tap runs the mode again.
Fixed: sometimes a new dictation kept loading while the keyboard offered an earlier one instead. The keyboard and the app now always agree on which dictation is yours, also when you switch apps during a recording.
Fixed: in some apps the mode buttons in the keyboard looked faded at the top, or blended into the keyboard's background. They now stand out clearly everywhere.

Fixed: in some apps the mode buttons in the keyboard looked faded at the top, or blended into the keyboard's background. They now stand out clearly everywhere.
You can now delete AI modes you made yourself: open one in the mode list and tap “Delete this mode” at the bottom. Until now you could only switch them off.
Fixed: the Live Activity sometimes stayed after the app had stopped listening, until you ended it yourself. It now goes away by itself, also in the background and after a phone call.
Fixed: on some work phones and company networks, Cerebro Keyboard couldn't connect right after installing, and the keyboard answered every dictation with "API key missing". The app now keeps trying by itself. If a network blocks Cerebro Keyboard, the keyboard says so plainly and suggests mobile data. Your recording is kept and sent by itself as soon as you switch to mobile data or another network.
Cerebro Keyboard now speaks nine more languages: French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Portuguese for Portugal and for Brazil. If your iPhone is set to one of them, so are the app, the keyboard, the Live Activity and the settings.
Give 5, get 5: invite friends to Cerebro Keyboard from Settings > Invite friends. A friend who is new to the app and redeems your code gets 5 extra transcriptions every month on top of the free 20, once they've dictated. You get 5 extra every month for each friend who then makes 3 transcriptions on 2 different days within 30 days, for up to 10 friends. Got an invite yourself? Tap "Got an invite?" on the first screen or in Settings within 14 days of installing. Invites that count earn level badges, from Duet to Choir. The invite rules in our Terms of Use apply.
A new lineup of AI modes: Professional, Concise, Casual and the new List, which turns rambling into bullet points or a to-do list. Also new, Email turns what you said into a short email, ready to send. If you already use Cerebro, your modes stay as they are, and the new ones wait in the mode list until you switch them on.
Translate now covers 30 languages: tap "Translate to…" in the mode list and add as many as you like. The English and German modes carry on as "→ English" and "→ German".
Community modes like Pirate and Shakespeare have their own section now, and each shows who wrote it. Report or hide any mode you don't want, or hide every mode by one author. Made a mode others would like? Submit your own with "Share with the community" in the mode editor. We check every mode before it is published.
Keep talking while your text is on its way: tap the orb and a new recording starts, while the first one keeps sending. If a dictation is only ready after you've moved on, the keyboard offers it as "Earlier dictation ready" with Insert, for up to an hour. Recordings are now much smaller to send, and a stalled upload starts over on a fresh connection, so your text arrives sooner on a weak network.
Emoji suggestions stay quiet when you dictate in a language they have no word list for, instead of guessing from a word that only looks English or German.
Fixed: after your free transcriptions ran out, the keyboard could stay locked even once a new month began.

Change the style after you dictate: right after a dictation, tap an AI mode above the orb and your text is rewritten in place. "Original" brings back what you said. Free includes 20 rewrites a month.
Emoji suggestions now fit what you said. After a dictation, up to two matching emoji appear at the right end of the AI modes above the orb, instead of covering them, and none appear when nothing fits.
With Pro, a recording now runs up to 10 minutes, long enough for a meeting. Without Pro, it's 2 minutes.
The delete key moved to the right, where you'd expect it. Hold it, and after a second it deletes whole words. On iPhones with a Home button, the keyboard now has its own globe key to switch keyboards.
The Dynamic Island moves with your voice while you record, and while your text is being written. When the microphone is only standing by, it says "Mic ready, not recording".
AI modes use a new language model: better at translating, the provider keeps nothing, and a dictated question gets rewritten instead of answered. Text you send to an AI mode and the words in your dictionary are no longer kept on our server either.
Keyboard missing in just one app? Settings now links to the explanation: some company accounts block third-party keyboards in their app.
Fixed: the keyboard could say "Session ended" while you switched apps, although the microphone was still ready. Also fixed a crash when returning to the app.

New onboarding: a real microphone test with a live level meter, and a clear page about what happens to your voice before you agree. Recordings no longer get lost when you're offline or something goes wrong: the recording is kept in History and transcribed as soon as it can be, or with one tap. The monthly counter now updates after every dictation, and Pro members see their unlimited status on the start screen. Custom AI modes take their name from the example you tap. New app icon.
1.420006 21 Sept
Your music no longer drops to phone-call quality while Cerebro is listening. The Bluetooth microphone is now claimed only for the seconds you are actually dictating, so your headphones stay in full stereo the rest of the time.
Also in this release: a fixed purchase flow, and Cerebro Pro with new pricing.

Dictation got better in four languages: Croatian now comes back in Latin letters, Tamil and Thai no longer type a sentence twice, and Mandarin comes back in Traditional characters on iPhones set to Traditional Chinese. If Cerebro Keyboard saves you typing, a rating in the App Store helps others find it.
