Overall very satisfying user experience
The app does what it sets out to do pretty well, I primarily use Gumroad for tutorial videos and brushes.
Videos run well, and brushes are easy to install into the relevant apps.
There are some rooms for improvement, I can see a few others
suggesting that purchasing should be accessible straight from the app and I don’t think it would do any harm though I mostly just see the app as storage.
My main issue is that the interface doesn’t seem to respond to the rotation of the iPad. I.e it remains in portrait mode even if you turn the iPad horizontal. Videos still rotate but when you exit the video you are met with a sideways menu which is a little jarring. And if you have the iPad turned on it’s head (which I like to do because the speakers get muffled on the bottom) the interface is upside down.
It’s not really a deal breaker, just a little jarring and seems like an easy enough fix, that I’m not sure why it’s been overlooked.
Milestone app
Truly an amazing concept. Love Gumroad and it’s availabilty as a platform for daring and venturing creators, and the app is a fine addition. The developers should however imo make it possible for the app to play sound while the phone is closed, as several of the videos i watch would work well as audio podcasts. Still love the app and will continue to do so.
Mediocre
I love the concept of Gumroad, and this app has so much potential..
Sadly it does not seem like they know the how to utilize it.
There’s tons of awesome features you could put into this, like being able to buy content straight from the app, or utilize split screen so you can draw while following a tutorial.
You could make videos available for download, so it could be downloaded at home and watched offline when you’re on the road.
Just some few suggestions... The last one I seriously hope you’ll consider.
