NEW • Tables. A Markdown table reads as a grid as you write: Tab moves between cells, Return adds a row, and the Table button on the formatting bar starts one. A table pasted from a chat lines up on arrival. With Hide Markdown syntax on it draws as a real table, in one of four styles from Settings > Editor > Customize Editor. • pCloud and Google Drive sync (Smolpad Pro), beside iCloud and Dropbox in Settings > Storage. Connect copies your iCloud notes over, then keeps them as plain Markdown files in a Smolpad folder of your own, synced both ways. Neither service shows Smolpad anything else. • Smolpad on Apple Watch (Smolpad Pro). Read your notes, check off tasks, start a New Note by dictation, or Add Text to a note. The watch works through your iPhone and keeps your changes while the iPhone is out of reach. Two complications: Open Smolpad, and Open Note for a note of your choice. • Lock Screen widgets on iPhone (Smolpad Pro): Search, Daily Note, Open Note, New Note and Open Smolpad. Open Note also comes wide, showing the note's first lines. • Shortcuts, Siri and Spotlight. Five actions, Open Today's Note, Open Note, New Note, Append to Note and Search Notes, work in Shortcuts and with Siri with no setup. Your notes appear in Spotlight, and Siri with Apple Intelligence knows which note is open. Opening and searching are free; New Note and Append to Note need Smolpad Pro. • Export (Smolpad Pro): PDF, HTML or Rich Text, a whole note or a selection, plus Copy as Rich Text, Print, and Send to Apple Notes on the Mac or Share… on iPhone and iPad. • Your settings follow you to every device on your iCloud account: daily note, images, sorting, editor and themes. Settings > General > Sync settings with iCloud turns it off. • More Markdown: quotes with a bar in your accent color, nested bullets as circles and squares, footnotes, definition lists, ==highlights==, subscript and superscript, colored code in nine languages, and [[note links]] that open another note. Type :tent: and it becomes the tent emoji. A title that starts with an emoji shows it as the note's icon. • Also new: Archive in a note's menu, or on a swipe left; on the Mac, Control-Option-Command-T adds the selected text, or the clipboard, to today's note, and a shortcut of your own detaches Smolpad from the menu bar; three short date formats for daily notes, which now move with their folder; on iPhone and iPad, touch and hold the plus button for a new note. CHANGED • A long list item wraps under its own text, not back under its bullet, number or checkbox. FIXED • Smolpad opens without freezing. Notes load in the background, so a big library, or notes iCloud has not downloaded yet, no longer hold the app on an empty list. • Sync no longer makes conflicted copies of your own edits after a dropped connection. A note that syncs while you edit it shows the synced text, and your last edit on iPhone and iPad is sent when you leave. When two devices truly clash, iCloud now keeps both versions, one as "(conflicted copy)". • Leaving a note no longer crashes some iPhones, a long note no longer flashes a second cursor as you type, and the caret lands where you tap beside hidden Markdown.

NEW • A daily note, one per day. Turn on Daily note in Settings > General and Smolpad keeps one note per calendar day in a Daily folder, named by its date in the format you pick from eight. On the Mac, the Shortcut group in Settings > General gains Set keyboard shortcut to open today's note: press it anywhere and today's note comes to the front, created if need be. • A calendar for daily notes. With Daily note on, the note list gets a calendar button. Days that have a note carry a dot, today sits on a tinted disc, and tapping any day opens its note, creating it if there is none. • Add to Today's Note from any app on the Mac. Select text anywhere, right-click or open the app's Services menu, and choose Add to Today's Note in Smolpad. The text lands under today's heading. • Smolpad can offer what you just copied. Turn on Enable clipboard notification in Settings > Editor > Customize Editor, and opening Smolpad with new text or a picture on the clipboard shows a small card asking Paste clipboard? New Note puts it in a new note; while your cursor is in a note, Yes pastes it right there. The card leaves on its own after 20 seconds. On the Mac, Settings > General > Notes has Always paste clipboard into a new note. • Save the clipboard from the Home Screen. On iPhone and iPad, long-press the Smolpad icon and choose Save Clipboard: whatever you copied, text or a picture, becomes a new note and Smolpad opens on it. • Import a folder of notes. Settings > Storage > Import Notes has an Import notes button: pick a folder and Smolpad copies the Markdown and text files at its top level into your notes. • Settings > Storage says what iCloud is doing. A line under the storage cards says whether iCloud is on and every note is synced, whether notes are uploading or downloading, or, in amber, that notes are staying on this device. • Tab nests a list item. On a bullet, numbered, or task line, Tab indents the item one level and Shift-Tab brings it back out. Numbered lists renumber to match. On iPhone and iPad this is for hardware keyboards. • Paste a link onto selected text on the Mac. Select some words, copy a web address, and press Command-V: the words become a link to it. iPhone and iPad already worked this way. • Two new editor themes, Doki Sayori and Doki Vanilla. Twenty-nine themes in all. • Always on top for the torn-off window on the Mac, three ways: the switch in Settings > Editor > Customize Editor, the note list's right-click menu, or the pin at the end of the window's status bar. • About shows the build number next to the version, and a Release Notes link opens smolpad.com/release-notes. CHANGED • Settings are grouped under headings: Launch Configuration, Popup, and Notes in General; Import Notes in Storage; Customize Editor in Editor. • The popup appears instantly on the Mac. Settings > General > Popup has Animate popup, off by default, for anyone who wants the old motion back. • The Settings and Search buttons float over the note list, and the list scrolls beneath them. FIXED • The Mac joins iCloud without a relaunch. Turning on iCloud Drive, or signing in to iCloud, while Smolpad is open now copies your notes into iCloud right away. And if iCloud Drive is slow to answer at launch, Smolpad asks again on its own. • A missing picture says so. A note whose picture file has been moved or deleted now shows a small frame with the picture icon and the file's name, instead of a blank line.

NEW • Pictures in your notes. Drag or paste an image into a note and it appears in the text at its own size. Smolpad copies the file so the note keeps working when the original moves: beside the note, or into an images folder, your choice in Settings > Editor. Drag a corner to resize it. Pictures travel with their notes on iCloud and on Dropbox. • An image button in the formatting toolbar, next to the link button. On iPhone and iPad it asks Photos or Files. On the Mac, Shift-Command-V does the same thing. When the editor is too narrow for the whole row, the buttons that do not fit move into a More menu. • A picture has its own menu: right-click on the Mac, press and hold on iPhone and iPad. Resize to a width in points or back to its original size, Show in Finder or Show in Files, and Delete, which asks first and removes the file too unless another note still uses it. • Edit a link you cannot see. With Reveal syntax under the cursor turned off, select a link and press Command-L or tap the link button: a small card opens with the link's text and its address, both editable, plus Remove Link. • Tap the title to rename a note on iPhone and iPad. A small panel opens with the name ready to edit. The name then stays put and no longer follows the note's first line, the same as Rename from the list. • Option-Command-S inserts a separator, the line that divides one part of a note from the next. • Show in Finder, from a note's right-click menu on the Mac. On iPhone and iPad it reads Show in Files and appears when your notes are in iCloud or in Smolpad's own folder, which the Files app now lists under On My iPhone. • A New Note button in the Mac panel's header, for anyone who turns the editor's floating one off. One of the two is always there. • Your first week of Smolpad Pro Yearly is free. Cancel any time before it ends. CHANGED • The panel opens ready to read, not ready to type. No cursor lands in the note until you click into it, and switching notes lets the cursor go. A note you just created is the exception: it opens with the cursor on its first line, keyboard up on iPhone and iPad. • The Dock icon follows the tear-off on the Mac. Drag the panel into its own window and Smolpad appears in the Dock and in Command-Tab; close the window and it goes back to living in the menu bar. With Menu Bar & Dock set, the icon stays put as it always has. • While you type on iPhone and iPad, the New Note button floats above the formatting bar, level with the character count, out from under your thumbs. • Settings > Editor keeps the type controls together under Font Settings, and the counts read a size larger. • The indent button is gone from the Mac toolbar. The Tab key does the same job. iPhone and iPad keep it. • Smolpad may ask you to rate it, at most three times a year and only after you have finished writing on three separate days. There is a Rate Smolpad link in About whenever you want it. FIXED • Editing a note's title no longer takes the cursor away on the Mac, or the keyboard down on iPhone and iPad. • A tag can start with an accented letter. #Übersetzung and #élan are tags now, like #ideen and #idees always were. • A fresh install remembers your purchase, and trying a TestFlight beta no longer unsets Pro in the App Store app. • The toolbar's image button works on the Mac. It opened nothing before. • The outline pane paints to the bottom with the keyboard up, hiding Markdown hides a picture's code too, and press and hold lifts just the picture instead of the whole note. • On iOS 27, typing near autocorrect no longer flashes the cursor to the wrong line for a frame.

NEW • Thirteen new editor themes: Solarized, GitHub and Everforest in light and dark, GitHub High Contrast, Alucard (Dracula's own light half), Afterglow, Nord and Bearded Milkshake Mint. Twenty-seven themes in all, eleven of them light. • Five new app icons: Smol Skeuomorphic, Smol Coast, Smol Notebook, Smol Sketches and Smol Pixels. Seventeen in all, and every one has a line of its own if you point at it. • An outline of your note, beside it. Turn it on from the editor's toolbar or with Option-Command-O, and every heading lists down the side. Click one to jump to that section. On iPhone it opens as a sheet. • Open Markdown and text files with Smolpad. Drop a .md on the Dock icon, use Open With, or drag files onto the note list. Your originals are never touched or moved. • Reorder notes by hand on iPhone and iPad, and drag them into folders. Press and hold a row anywhere outside its title, then drag. • More keyboard. Command-1 to Command-9 jump to a note by its place in the list, Command-K goes to search, Command-L inserts a link, Command-W puts Smolpad away without quitting it, and Command-/ opens a card listing every shortcut. • Markdown syntax can stay hidden for good. Settings > Editor has a new switch under Hide Markdown syntax: turn off Reveal syntax under the cursor and the markers never appear at all. • A wider note list on the Mac. Settings > Appearance offers Compact, Standard, Wide and Extra Wide, or right-click the list to change it without opening Settings. • The panel has a close button in its top left corner. The quit button is off by default now, and quitting is a right-click on the menu bar icon. • Reduce Motion is respected, and Settings > Storage opens your notes folder in the Finder or the Files app. FIXED • A deleted welcome note stays deleted, and the folder Smolpad makes on first launch cleans up after itself. • Hide Markdown syntax now hides it while you type. Only the piece you are editing shows its markers, and opening a note no longer reveals its first heading. • The Mac panel can no longer be dragged too small to use, and Reset Window Size puts an oversized one back. • macOS 27 beta: tearing the panel off works again, and the delete and rename dialogs take clicks.

NEW • Tags. Type #ideas in any note and it becomes a chip you can click. Browse every tag from the tag button, filter the list down to one, and autocomplete offers tags you have already used. • Word and character counts in the status bar, each with its own switch in Settings. • German and French. The whole app, translated by people who use it. • Pick your icon set: Chonk, the hand-drawn original, or San Francisco, Apple's own symbols. Switches instantly. • Two new app icons: Smolpad Lemon and Smolpad Travelers. • Search can stay open for good. • Pinned notes can be dragged into your own order without putting the whole list into Manual sort. FIXED • Dragging notes to reorder them works again. It had been broken since 1.3.2, and it is rebuilt from scratch underneath. • Bug fixed: The panel no longer shows a transparent strip across its top, and stray window buttons stay gone. • A cancelled subscription now returns to the free tier promptly instead of lingering. • Restore Purchases says the App Store could not be reached, instead of telling you that you never bought anything. • On the free tier, deleting a note now brings back your oldest hidden note, rather than offering a slot that would swallow the next note you write. • App icon previews in Settings are sharp again, and the theme picker grows with larger accessibility text instead of clipping it.

Send anything to Smolpad: this update adds a share extension. On any web page, tap Share and pick Smolpad to clip the page's link into a note. Have text selected first and the selection comes along, formatted your way: a tidy quote with a linked title, plain text, or a bullet. Pick a note or start a new one, and Smolpad remembers your choice for next time. Also in this update: swipe a note all the way to delete or pin it in one motion, a delete confirmation that is easier to read in every theme, and assorted small fixes.
