SkyPath — Real-Time Turbulence Intelligence
SkyPath is the aviation industry's leading crowdsourced turbulence network. By aggregating accelerometer and GPS data from EFB-equipped aircraft in real time, SkyPath delivers actionable turbulence intelligence to pilots, dispatchers, and operations teams — before the bumps happen.
The Problem
Turbulence costs airlines hundreds of millions of dollars every year — in crew and passenger injuries, unscheduled maintenance, and operational delays. For over three decades, the industry has struggled with Clear Air Turbulence: invisible, unpredictable, and consistently underserved by legacy forecast data. The information available to pilots today is slow, coarse, and uncertain.
How It Works
Every iPad in the cockpit is a sensor. SkyPath runs silently in the background on pilots' EFB tablets, continuously capturing motion data and transmitting it to the cloud. That data is processed and pushed back to every aircraft on the network — in real time. The more airlines fly SkyPath, the sharper the picture gets.
What SkyPath Delivers
Real-time awareness — Pilots receive live turbulence reports from aircraft ahead on the same route, with enough lead time to react. No waiting for a dispatcher call or a forecast update.
Safer routing — Crews can identify and avoid severe turbulence corridors during flight, reducing passenger and crew injury risk and keeping aircraft within structural limits.
Smarter maintenance — Precise G-force exceedance data lets maintenance teams assess actual structural exposure rather than defaulting to precautionary inspections. Significant cost savings on post-event checks.
Fuel efficiency — Better hazard awareness enables more confident route optimization. Less contingency fuel loaded, fewer precautionary deviations, more flyable airspace utilized.
Improved dispatch planning — The turbulence feedback loop is near-instantaneous. Dispatchers and flight planners gain a live, crowd-validated picture of enroute conditions.
Why SkyPath
• Plug-and-play deployment on existing EFB hardware — no new equipment, no installation cost
• Operates passively in the background — zero pilot workload overhead
• Network effect: every flight improves the data for every other flight
• Purpose-built for airline operations, with enterprise integrations for major EFB platforms

Introducing:
SkyPath OneLayer
SkyPath OneLayer is the world's first smart, consolidated ride quality layer. It integrates the best global turbulence data sources, including SkyPath Observations, EDR, PIREPs, and SkyPath’s Nowcasting (with 12-hour predictions), into a single, AI-powered layer. With real-time insights, intelligent notifications, and a user-friendly display, OneLayer enhances situational awareness and reduces workload.
SkyPath ADS-B Turbulence
The world’s first turbulence data layer derived from reports of ADS-B vertical rate. The ADS-B layer brings a major increase in the quantity of observational reports available in the SkyPath ecosystem, across the globe. This layer is contained within the OneLayer, and is also visible as a separate layer by enabling it as an “On Top” layer.
Nowcasting Improvements
SkyPath’s Turbulence Nowcasting now has predictions for up to 12 hours, increasing from 6, and notifications are also configurable for nowcasting reports in the Settings menu.
Peer-to-peer Optimization
Allow SkyPath to search and connect to devices on your local network to significantly reduce data consumption.
GPS Interference PIREPs
Stay informed about GPS Jamming and Spoofing along your route with SkyPath’s GPS Interference PIREPs. Experienced GPS interference? Create a PIREP to let other pilots know, with simple drag and drop functionality.

• Product walkthrough within the app - We made the onboarding experience better than ever, with a product walkthrough tour within the application. New users will see it right away. If you would like to learn more about how to operate SkyPath, go to the setting and take the tour.
• Calculated pressure altitude display - We have added the ability to calculate and display your pressure altitude. SkyPath uses the iPad’s GPS and the atmospheric conditions at the flight’s current location.
In addition, you will also find the altitude slider much more informative and easy to use as your altitude and the search block are conveniently displayed there.
• Ride conditions - Forecasted ride conditions based on the current turbulence reports along the route. The popup will be shown after starting a flight. The ride conditions are updated throughout the flight and visible via the flight status box.
• Enhanced background notifications and Split view - From now on, you don’t need to open SkyPath to the foreground to view the content of the background notifications. You can use the iPad’s haptic touch to extend them and receive more information about them. SkyPath also supports split view mode for simultaneous work with other applications.
• Map enhancements - Dark mode logic is upgraded and is now linked to your iPad’s settings automatically. You can change it manually. Map now supports Multi-Select menu when there is more than one entity around your finger. Map information logic was upgraded to ensure a smoother experience when zooming in and out, also when offline. Vertical View will now follow your flight direction automatically.
