Nice in general - bad with notifications

I like using Slack. Except for one hugely important feature lacking; I cannot trust the app to send me notifications. And this is one of the top three features of a communication app. And for business even. Please fix this asap. It’s inadequate 😄

Buggy with some UI flaws

Working with a number of teams across the globe, I have several workspaces in my Slack. By and large, I can make it work, but every single day, I struggle with a workspace not loading. Just waiting and waiting and waiting, till I force quit and restart Slack - then it comes up almost immediately. Or if I switch to another workspace and back, it comes up quickly as well, so I cannot think of anything but a bug in Slack or the backend or somewhere in between. Then you can forget about the little red badge. It doesn’t update to indicate unread messages, until you open the app, which uhm… kinda defeats its purpose… Then there’s missing profile pictures. And wrong profile pictures. And sometimes, my colleagues and I see different profile pictures. And sometimes, the profile pictures don’t load, until I restart Slack. I do a lot of Slack restarting. Like I said: “By and large, I can make it work.” Then there’s the very odd UI choice of putting unread channels and messages in the top. This means that they constantly change place in the list, depending on message status. If you’re writing with multiple colleagues (which I do very frequently), you’ll find yourself scrolling up and down like crazy, because Slack thinks it’s clever to mess with the UI, while you’re trying to have a conversation. And desperately hold on to your wits. Dear developers. It’s fine to have a space for unread channels. By all means, put them all the way up there at the top. But also keep them where they normally are, so users always know where to find them. Nothing prevents you from doing that.

In short: Slack is a good tool. Sadly, though, it could have been a great tool, which it certainly is not. A spot of debugging would do, and a few things could be much more intuitive.
