Textastic is a beautifully uncomplicated app, yet it doesn’t compromise on its rich feature set. Its seamless integration with Working Copy simplifies the process of developing over GitHub, transforming what could be a complex task into a breeze. The presence of SSH support is a standout, enabling easy cloud-based development. Despite its simplicity, Textastic proves to be an indispensable tool for coding on the go.KindlyLarsDenmarkwww.lpmathiasen.dk

Still the best app for coding I’ve tried. Use it every day. Try it, you don’t regret.
May be a good editor, but you need to pay before you find out

I have happily paid lots of money for good software over the years - and I still do. The time you devote to writing code is precious. If you decide to open source your code, you will reserve a seat in the afterlife FOSS-heaven, and if you want money while you are on earth and make good software, you should have the option to get paid properly. But having said that, I have to state tjat it is absolutely ridiculous that you HAVE TO PAY (or accept payment) to use it when it is listed as a free app with in-app purchases. Developers should be obliged to specify this clearly when writing the app ad texts. Yes, yes - I can start a 7-day free period (the Apple way, where I start a subscription but need to cancel to avoid charging). This is part of the reason that I am fed up with the Apple environment. I did not spend much time actually coding in the app due to the limitations being so strict trying to force me into accepting payment. I used the editor for 5 minutes.
Developer Response
Textastic includes a 7-day free trial when starting a monthly or yearly subscription. No payment is charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The App Store requires adding a payment method to start a free trial, even if nothing is billed upfront. I understand this can be frustrating and appreciate your feedback.Offering a free download with in-app purchases is currently the most practical way to provide a trial through the App Store. For those who prefer not to subscribe, a one-time purchase option is also available.
- On iPad, files opened via “Open With” > Textastic in the Files app or “Open” in Working Copy now open as new tabs in an existing Textastic window instead of always opening a new window.
- On iPad, window titles now update correctly after opening files.
- The special folder icon with a gear for the #Textastic folder is now only shown for the #Textastic folder in “Local Files.”
