Back up iPhone photos and videos to storage you control: NAS, self-hosted servers, S3-compatible storage, or external drives. Supports SMB, SFTP, and WebDAV.
Watermelon Backup helps you back up your iPhone photo library to storage you control, instead of someone else’s cloud.
It works with NAS devices, self-hosted servers, S3-compatible storage, WebDAV, SFTP, SMB, and external drives, making it a practical choice for personal backups, self-hosted storage, and long-term local archives.
The app shows your local library and remote storage side by side, organized by month, so you can easily see what has been backed up, what is missing, and what you may want to restore. You can back up, download, or sync month by month with a workflow that stays clear even as your library grows.
To reduce unnecessary transfers, Watermelon Backup uses a local index and remote manifests to avoid uploading or downloading content that is already there whenever possible. Tasks can also be paused and resumed, helping larger libraries stay manageable.
If some originals are stored in iCloud Photos, Watermelon Backup can access them when needed to complete a backup. When you want something back, you can restore photos and videos from your backup to the Photos app.
