Yourora
Aurora: Go out. Wait. Stay in
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Clearer guidance on when to go out, nearby places worth heading to, and a community for observations, talks, hubs and groups, watchers and places.
Your clearest read on the northern lights. Everything that affects your chances of seeing the northern lights in one clear read, plus a community that lives and breathes the aurora.
Yourora helps you decide if the northern lights are worth going out for tonight, and what lies ahead.
Built around northern European data, Yourora combines local measurements, forecasts, weather, darkness and real-world observations to give you a clear view of what is happening now and what could happen later.
Yourora is a paid membership, there is no free tier. Membership unlocks the full app, from real-time guidance to community observations and alerts.
GO OUT, WAIT OR STAY IN
Yourora answers four simple questions:
• Is aurora activity happening now?
• Could conditions improve later?
• Is the sky clear?
• Is it dark enough?
Measured conditions and forecasts are kept separate, so you always know what is happening now and what is still predicted. When the outlook is uncertain, Yourora says so.
All of it comes together in one clear recommendation: go out, wait or stay in.
WHERE TO GO TONIGHT
Find nearby places where aurora activity, darkness and weather are expected to line up tonight, even before it gets dark.
SIMPLE OR ADVANCED
Simple mode gives you the call and the reason behind it.
Advanced mode lets you explore the underlying data, including solar wind, geomagnetic activity, magnetometers, solar imagery and forecast models.
THE FEED
See what people nearby are actually seeing, as it happens.
Post an observation, attach a photo, and read the feed of what everyone else is seeing tonight. Open any observation and talk it over in the comments. A photo taken twenty minutes ago nearby often tells you more than any index.
THE COMMUNITY
Yourora brings observations, talks, hubs and groups, watchers and places together in one community. Follow what matters to you, take part in conversations and build your own history of nights, people and places.
ALERTS YOU CONTROL
Choose what is worth being notified about, from tonight's outlook and geomagnetic activity to substorms, CME arrivals and solar flares.
Set quiet hours and the less urgent alerts still arrive, silently, instead of waking you.
MORE THAN THE AURORA
Yourora also helps you discover meteor showers, the Milky Way, solar and lunar eclipses, supermoons, moonrise and twilight. The map carries a light-pollution layer, so you can find darker sky within reach.
BUILT FOR NIGHTS OUTSIDE
A dark interface keeps aurora conditions, cloud cover and night-sky information easy to read when you are standing outside in it.
Yourora comes from Norrsken Sverige, which has spent more than a decade bringing together people who share a passion for the northern lights.
Know when to go out, when to wait, and what else is worth looking up for.
