Updated with the FAO Global Forest Resources Assessment 2025 • Data now covers 1990–2025 for 236 countries and territories, including FAO's revised figures for earlier years. • Forest Area: see forest gained and lost in each period, from 1990–2000 through 2020–2025. • Production: growing stock per hectare and by forest type (naturally regenerating vs. planted), plus updated biomass and carbon. • Protective Functions: a new chart shows what each country's forests are mainly managed for. • Disturbance: yearly area burnt, and forest damaged by insects, disease and severe weather, from 2000. • Sustainable Forest Management: permanent forest estate, management plans (including in protected areas), forest policy, laws, wood traceability, and the data sources behind each country's forest figures. • Economics & Livelihood still shows FRA 2015 figures, since FRA 2025 does not report forest economics. • Flags added for South Sudan, Curaçao, the Holy See and other territories, and chart colours now match their legends.
