Compare folders, code, PDFs, Word and Excel files, images, archives and databases, and merge what you need. Every comparison runs on your Mac. Diff Anything is a file comparison and diff tool for Mac. Compare folders, text, code, PDFs, Word and Excel documents, images, archives, databases and structured data side by side, review every change and merge what you need. Everything runs on your Mac, in English, German or French. COMPARE MORE THAN TEXT • Source code and plain text, with a syntax-aware smart diff • JSON, YAML, XML, TOML, INI, property lists and .env files, compared by their data • CSV files and spreadsheets, with rows matched by content or by key columns and formulas compared • SQLite databases by schema and rows, and Jupyter notebooks by cell • HTTP responses, OpenAPI and API schemas • Folders, with ZIP, TAR, 7z and RAR archives compared by their contents • Binary files in a hex view • PDF, Office, OpenDocument and RTF documents, including Word formatting changes • Images, including HEIC, RAW, PSD, SVG and large camera photos, with overlay, swipe, blink, heatmap and pixel-difference views, ignore regions, offsets and metadata REVIEW CHANGES CLEARLY Navigate each difference, search results, edit text in place and apply supported changes in either direction. Mark items reviewed or ignored and attach notes so complex reviews stay organised. Align lines by hand, switch between side-by-side, inline and top-and-bottom layouts, and choose the encoding a file is read and saved in. A screen-reader workspace for VoiceOver reads each difference as its location, its change and both values, and lets you step through, review and apply changes from the keyboard. MERGE WITH CONFIDENCE A three-way merge tool for Git and other version control systems resolves conflicts one by one, including files that already contain conflict markers. JSON, YAML, TOML and INI files merge by their data, keeping their comments and layout. For folders, preview create, update, delete and move operations before synchronising, with rollback and undo safeguards. FILTER OUT NOISE Ignore whitespace, case, blank lines, comments, matching text, lines or columns, JSON paths, array order, selected HTTP headers, CSV columns and small numeric variations. Filter folders by size, date and .gitignore. Save comparison profiles for recurring work. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Comparisons run locally. Files, paths and compared content are never uploaded. There are no accounts, analytics, telemetry, AI processing, tokens or cloud fees. Core comparison works offline; the App Store is contacted only for product information and purchase verification. BUILT FOR DEVELOPERS Use Diff Anything as a Git difftool, merge tool or merge driver, from Finder Services, Open With, diffanything:// links, AppleScript or the command line. Run repeatable batch comparisons, export HTML, side-by-side, JSON, JSON Patch, unified diff, CSV, JUnit or SARIF reports, print them, and create and apply patches. Keep local history and folder snapshots, and pick up where you left off with tabs that reopen at launch. FREE TO TRY, ONE-TIME PRO The free version lets you try every comparison engine for files up to 5 MB per side and up to 10 new comparison sessions per day. Collection previews show the first 100 items and PDF previews the first 3 pages. Diff Anything Pro is a one-time purchase that removes preview and session limits and unlocks larger files, saved profiles, history, exports, three-way merge, folder synchronisation, batch manifests and local preprocessors. See every change. Keep every source local.

MERGE • A merge tool for Git and other version control systems, and resolving files that contain conflict markers. • JSON, YAML, TOML and INI files merge by their data: a conflict only where both sides changed the same value, with comments and layout kept. MORE TO COMPARE • Hex comparison of binary files, with insertions and deletions lined up. • SQLite databases by schema and rows, property lists, Jupyter notebooks by cell, TOML and INI files, and data files in different formats by their data. • Archives inside folder comparisons, archive-to-folder comparison, size and date filters, .gitignore support and folder snapshots. • HEIC, AVIF, PSD, RAW, TIFF, EXR and SVG images, large camera photos, animation frames, ignore regions, offsets, automatic alignment and metadata. • Spreadsheet rows matched by content or by key columns, with formulas compared. • Formatting changes in Word and OpenDocument files, with a filter for text or formatting changes. YOUR WAY OF WORKING • Ignore rules for matching text, lines, columns and comments. • Align lines by hand, a top-and-bottom layout, editor fonts, Go to Line and customisable shortcuts. • Choose the encoding to read and save with, and convert line endings. • Side-by-side HTML reports, printing, creating and applying patches, and JSON Patch export. • The tabs open when you quit reopen at launch. • Finder Services, Open With, Dock drops, diffanything:// links and AppleScript. • German and French interface. All comparisons remain private and local.
