Great online bank
Everything is great but I cannot use credit
We’re sorry but we won’t be able to open an N26 account for you
At the moment we are not able to support and verify the ID document you provided. As a regulated financial institution, we are obliged to verify the authenticity of specific security features on ID documents in order to finalize sign-ups. Unfortunately, these features are not present or not verifiable remotely in your case. Please note that these security measures are meant to protect your identity online and prevent third parties from using your data without your consent.
In case you have a second nationality, we strongly suggest that you try undergoing the identification process via app once again using the other documents.
In any case, we are working on this issue and will let you know once we are able to accept your identity document.

Security by obscurity
No clear reason for account termination. No response back either, just vague messaging from support team which has to refer to security team which don’t read emails as seems. The account has never been used for any sort of scam, in fact it has not been used too often. Seems like there is some detection ML algorithm which works in way no one really knows much about. Probably if the account was not used for some time that triggers sort of detection of internal anti-fraud rule or alternatively some nationality filters are being applied. In either case, not the way UI/UX should be designed.
