Select which albums to display using the albums menu. Works with both your personal albums and albums shared with you.
Photos with location appear as markers on the map—single photos show individually, while photos in the same approximate location are grouped into clusters with a count badge. Tap a single photo marker to view it full-screen. Tap a marker with multiple photos to open a gallery view where you can scroll through thumbnails and select which photo to view full-screen.
As you zoom in and out, clusters intelligently split and merge with smooth animations. When a cluster splits, one marker stays in place while new markers emerge and move to their positions. Zooming out reverses this, with markers merging back into their parent clusters.
The first time you select a particular set of albums containing many photos, there may be a loading period—usually fast but can be up to a minute for around 5,000 photos—while clustering information is calculated. A loading animation appears in the top right during this process. After the initial calculation, your photos appear immediately on subsequent app opens, even after restarting your phone. Loading only reoccurs if photos are added to or removed from your selected albums. During loading, the previous set of photos remains visible and interactive until the update completes.
Unviewed photos are highlighted in blue—both individual markers and cluster markers containing unviewed photos. Once you open and close a cluster gallery, all photos in that cluster are marked as viewed and the blue outline disappears.
MapAlbum works best with up to 5,000 photos total.
Note: Tapping on a marker that has thousands of photos may cause the app to crash when trying to open the gallery view due to device memory limitations. This will be fixed soon.
