This app has real potential and could be genuinely great. However, the monthly subscription model holds it back. Paying every month for this kind of service doesn’t feel justified and may turn users away.A one-time payment would likely be a more viable and user-friendly solution, making the app more appealing and accessible.
Hey, thank you for your feedback! :)The app has a free tier with 12 hours per month, which works great for hobby videographers or for trying out the app.We thought about offering a one time payment but decided against it for multiple reasons:A simple way to understand this is with this car example. There are two ways to get a car: you can buy it once, or you can lease it.When you buy a car, you own it – but over time it becomes outdated. 20 years later, you still have the same car, but 20 years older. If you always want to have the newest model, you have to lease a car.Software works in a similar way. Apps are not static products – they constantly evolve. New cameras come out, editing software changes, operating systems update, and workflows improve. Marker for Creators needs to keep being updated to be usable for you. If we sold the app once for a large upfront price, it might generate us a lot of money quickly – but that would not support long-term development. We’ve seen many indie apps with one-time payments that stop being updated after a year or two. Eventually they break, fall behind, or disappear entirely. That‘s not what we want for our users. Marker for Creators is a long-term project. Our goal isn’t to make quick money. Our goal is to help creators save time for many years.A subscription allows us to:• Continuously improve the app• Provide long-term support• Quickly adapt to updates from tools like DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro• Build new features that make creators’ workflows fasterThis model benefits both sides. It gives us the stability to invest time and effort into development, and it gives you the confidence that the tool you learn today will still be supported and improved in the future. We also try to keep the pricing fair. There is a free version that already helps hobby creators save time each month. The pricing idea behind Marker is that the app should pay for itself within a single full shooting day. Most videographers save around 2–3 hours per shoot. If your hour is worth more than $40, you save in one shoot what Marker for Creators costs a year.If you use Marker regularly and save hours every week, that can easily add up to hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year through a more efficient workflow. So the price is actually a small fraction of the value the app creates.Every subscription allows us to keep building Marker for Creators into the best tool it can be – saving creators like you even more time. Thanks again! If you have any more feedback, feel free to reach out! :)- J
