In this update, you can now access the ‘Audio in Calls’ feature available in iOS and iPadOS 18.2 and later to communicate with your simPODD voice during calls. We’ve also fixed some navigation bugs related to group books for a smoother experience. Thank you for updating and using simPODD!

We have made changes to specific books to improve your experience: • The 36 Key Word and 40 Key Word PODD books now have an option with the alphabet for users who are not at school. We’ve been adding to the voices on offer to reflect the diversity of the AAC community. simPODD now has two new children’s voices in English — Lizzie and Owen. This version also includes several bug fixes and performance improvements. The app is compatible with iOS 16. Thanks for using our app.

Introducing Spell Check! In simPODD 2.1, users learning to write will be able to use the Spell Check feature and easily learn and correct spelling. The feature is also accessible for keyguard users. We've also taken the opportunity to fix some bugs and make a few performance improvements. Let us know if you'd like to see other changes in future versions of simPODD - we're always listening!

The simPODD voices family keep growing - introducing Malik and Tiana, the first African American children’s voices in simPODD. Along with them we've added two new adult female voices in US English - Lily and Taylor. We’ve also taken the opportunity to fix minor bugs to improve your simPODD experience.

This new version of simPODD has a lot of tweaks and improvements, but two major ones we thought you’d like to know about: • We’ve added more than 20K new symbols allowing for richer, more nuanced speech. • We’ve introduced a whole new voice! Darius is the second African American English voice we have in simPODD. We’re proud to be among the first AAC apps to offer it as a choice for our users. Responding to our users' request, this new release introduces skin tone support. You can now go to Settings and select from five different skin tones to change the appearance of all the symbols.
