What’s New

Version 7.7

There’s more than meets the eye to today’s small, yet mighty update to 1Password. We’ve built an all-new password generator that is more powerful than ever while being even easier to use. The Random and Memorable generators have had their options refined and honed in, and it is easier to switch between the different modes — including the brand-new PIN code generator. Behind the scenes, we’re using our latest password recipes to create the right mix of reliable, strong passwords.

In addition to the new password generator, we’ve made a few improvements for users on iOS 14, along with numerous filling improvements on web pages.

1Password never prompts you for a review because we value your workflow too much to interrupt it. If you feel generous and have a couple of minutes, please leave a review. It makes a huge difference to us. Thank you in advance. :-)

If you need us you can find us at @1Password on Twitter. If you have questions or need support just pop on over to and we'll point you in the right direction.

Best password manager out there.

1Password is honestly one of the best password managers ive tried out. Its affordable, easy to use, and pleasant to look at. Privacy is allways first telling you if your password is unsecure or has been in a data breach. It makes filling out forms SO easy. I cannot explain how much i love pressing thag button above my keyboard instead of having to guess a password. They also have really great customer support (1-2 hour response). However the app isnt perfect. There is 2FA support but i dont for the life of me know how it works why is there no specific tab or even app? I would love cross platform 2FA but im not sure if this is possible. Imagine if 1Password could autofill your 6 digit codes when you login. It is also a PAIN to setup on new desktop devices. Like at schools colleges and universities they all reset the pcs each time you login, going through it is a whole process and trying to login to a website when your password is 50 random letters can be a huge pain.

But these minor gripes aside it is a truly great app. The team acctually feel like they care about their product, adding features customers ask for regularly (like custom thumbnails which I love). I would 100% recommend 1Password over any other password manager :) .

Great app

I use this everyday on my iPhone and Mac. I think it is impossible to provide secure passwords for all the websites I use without using a password manager these days, the only alternatives are laboriously using pen & paper or an insecure document on the computer.
This app is also great for recording those infrequently used passwords that you need from time to time (especially work related) - and avoids the whole password reset phone call scenario.
Sync works seamlessly. I like the separation of the application from the web browser. It is not Mac specific like iCloud Keychain. The app functionality and user interface is easy to use.
The only question I have is how sure the developers are with regards to cryptographic algorithm implementation - what processes are in place to ensure this functionality is correct and not altered with subsequent development work?
There are numerous password managers on the App Store, and 1Password is one of the only ones I would trust with my secure details.

Brilliant until something goes wrong and then you’re all alone and stuffed

I loved this app, I even recommended it to friends and colleagues BUT that was before I had a problem and then the developers are no where to be seen. I used this app successfully for three years, used it fully i.e. created complex passwords including the one to unlock the vault. I had over 180 different logins.
Unfortunately I dropped my phone and needed to get the screen repaired which also means the digital Touch ID scanner. When I tried to get back into 1Password obviously there was no recognised figure print and because I had followed the apps advice had used a complex password. No problem! I also had a back up plan I had set up 1Password on my iPad. However, the app is so flawed that when I went to open the vault via my iPad it wouldn’t let me use my finger ID and insisted I put my password in. Well as you can see I had no way of getting my password. I have emailed the developers several times to ask for help but they do not respond. I am a paying customer and feel very aggrieved about this. The disruption this has caused is unbelievable I have almost lost my job because I used this app for my work passwords. I have had trouble accessing my bank account. All this when I buying a new house. I would really warn any off using this app as the after sales support service is appalling and I actually feel that things have been stolen from me. Horrid horrid people.

Hi Dbsheff. 1Password encrypts your data using your Master Password. As such the only way to decrypt your data is with that password. We do have a guide which may help available here: Thanks! Ben Woodruff, 1Password
