Description

An open world adventure game filled with silly characters and terrible secrets.

Afterplace is an adventurous retro game for those who like to get lost. It's a huge open world, full of hidden secrets, treasures, and creatures. You'll run around the woods, fight monsters, and talk to ostensibly shady characters! Be warned though: you never know what the forest might be hiding, and not all trails are paved. Labyrinths and dungeons are tucked away in the most concealed nooks. There are no waypoints in Afterplace. You'll have to forge your own path.

Originally designed for mobile devices, Afterplace strives to bring an experience that feels both small and immense at the same time. The game has simple, fluid controls, allowing you to focus on exploration and discovery. Characters are happy to chat - or you can run right past them! You get to choose what story to explore, if any at all (we are not responsible for the consequences of ignoring the story, whatever they may be).

About the Author:
Afterplace is made by one person, Evan Kice. A former software engineer from Austin TX, Evan quit his job (to the dismay of his friends and family) and has been working full time on Afterplace since early 2019. The initial game released in December of 2022, but Evan plans on continuing to support and polish the game when he can!

What a Game

This game is incredible. Its surprisingly rich in its storytelling and there a lovely variety in the graphics. The gameplay itself is a perfect mix of challenging and very doable given that you can do at your own pace. At the start I was kinda frustrated by the lack of a map but having played the game I think it definitely made things more interesting. I also loved how the whole multiverse/door things was handled, it made for some great exploration and allowed for a lot of creativity on the design front. 10/10 game!!

GREAT

Very polished, well made rpg, very different from what I’m used to, there’s no map you just got to explore, the game is very relaxing with really good music, saves are automatic so I can just whip my phone out on bus or wherever. Controls are super easy with one hand. Can’t wait to see if there will be future updates. Well worth a buy 👍

Awesome game

Really enjoying this so far, brings that old school Zelda vibe that has been lost from the Zelda franchise recently. You can play this game with one hand which is just a great piece of game design and it feels cool to turn my iPad into a game boy advance for 30 mins or so and explore Afterplace. Highly recommended.
