Great value, very happy with purchase

AmpKit is a fraction of the price of other amp sim software, but offers a suprising amount of depth and customization options with plenty of amp, cab, and pedal options.
I also think the tones are actually quite good, particularly if you spend some time tweaking the settings on the pedals, amps etc. Sure, it doesn’t sound like professional rigs, but it’s perfectly usable for practice, recording, soloing over backing tracks, etc.
I also particularly like the fact that it has bass amps and pedals.
The interface is also easy to use, and I haven’t experienced any problems with latency etc.
Overall I think it’s great value, and I will continue to use it for late night practice with headphones etc.

Best amp sim for simply playing the guitar

All the other desktop sims out there are focussed as serious plugins for recording programs. This program is absoultely perfect for people who want to use their computer simply as an amp and fx modeller. The user interface is so friendly, it has all the primary gear and tones covered and doesn’t hide anything in tricky menus. Amplitube was the closest to this before but I still didn’t like their presets and drop down menu approach (plus unless you buy everything, which would cost about 600 euros, you’re constantly reminded that there’s so much you haven’t yet purchased).

This program is limited, it won’t even act as a plugin to recording software such as logic or garageband, so beware if that's what you’re looking for. But if like me you were just after an easy way of playing your guitar through your computer, this is the program for you!

Splendid

Best guitar amp musical app, which I knew through the ipad version. Same high standards for mac: award winning sound and design. If you download soundflower you can play and record from Ampkit through to Logic or garage band (hence sorting the issue mentionned by another reviewer).
I am grateful for many hours of musical pleasure and sonic experimentation. My home guitar is a Godin ACS Nylon. As new amps models get added it would be extremely nice if you could add acoustic amps suitable for flamenco and classical guitar styles of playing - especially as nylon string electro acoustic guitars are becoming more and more common.
