Eats up battery life.

Autocar is without doubt the finest motoring magazine available. Not going out because of Covid 19 means I’m not buying the hard copy but have taken an online subscription. It download fine, it displays great on an iPad but absolutely eats up the battery. One hours reading uses 20% of available battery on a brand new iPad. I have other book and magazine reading apps which are not remotely as battery intensive as this one. I have sent an email to the developers using the link supplied and am waiting a reply. I will update this post after I receive an answer.
UPDATE. No reply from the developers yet but besides eating battery life it generates a high amount of heat on the back of the iPad.
FURTHER UDATE. As the developers of the app or Haymarket the publishers have not thought it necessary to reply to my emails the app is now deleted and my subscription cancelled. This is a shame as the journalists on Autocar do a great job and are being let down by those responsible for disseminating their words. In its place I recommend you download Readly instead. Lower monthly cost and lots more magazines as well as Autocar.

I have had the app for just over a year. Whenever I download a copy of Autocar it deletes itself when I close the app, so I can not use it offline.
I have now been logged out of my account on all three of the devices that I use this app on with an error message saying that my account has too many devices registered to it, even though it is now not registered to any devices.
The support is useless, I have sent three emails about this latest problem and I only got one reply with a link to a useless website which didn’t solve the issue.
The magazine is worth 5 stars, but the app is terrible and unreliable.

I love Autocar but the app is increasingly awful. The latest edition is often not available on Wednesday day of publication, so I’ve read similar content from other sources by the time Autocar appears a day or so later. And buying an issue is challenging: the purchase often fails multiple times, or tells me it’s successful but still won’t download. Sometimes an iPad restart helps, sometimes not. Drives me nuts. To top it off, at Tim elf writing this the “Preview” images in the App Store are of Classic & Sports Car mag, not Autocar. Please fix these issues as I am less and less likely to purchase editions when it’s so difficult to do so.
