Brilliant bit of kit just one gripe

I’ve used this a lot in the last few weeks and I love it. I was a bit worried about seeing the screen in brights sunshine but it’s all good because the screen gets brighter to compensate. It used about 20% battery life on a four hour run when the screen was brightest and so the claims of a long battery life are true.
The only negative I could find is about the distance indicator when a turn is approaching.
When your settings are in km and m, as you get about 600 m from the turn it will switch from km to m to give am accurate indication of the distance to the turn. If the settings are in miles and meters this is not the case. On my ride out it would go all the way down to 0.1 mile then jump to 50 m meaning I had to slow down to almost a crawl so as not to miss the turn when I was on a twisty hedged lane. Apart from that, which could possibly be easily fixed with an update, I love it and would give it five stars.

Incredible hardware + software - cycling is a pleasure

This is the first review I’ve written on the App Store I’m not normally that enthused by anything but I have to say the folks at Beeline have done an amazing job with how they have constantly evolved the software (in terms of interface, optimum route algorithms which select really the most suitable path for method of travel, link to Strava etc.) I can honestly say that it makes cycling a pleasure it takes all the hassle out of stopping and checking a map app for the direction etc

And if you haven’t already you NEED to get the beeline device which you can do easily attach to your handlebars or stem. Basically it takes the app intelligence and transmits it as a form of digital compass. And by the way the hardware is really incredible - battery life is good and I guess this is not recommended but my mistake I once put my cycling jersey with the device in the washing machine for 1 hour and I could still use it afterwards! So it has some level of being waterproof.

Anyway thank you so much to the team at beeline for the original concept and the hard work to keep on evolving it

Hey! Wow thank you so much for this lovely review! It's definitely made our day in the office! We're glad your device survived a wash, definitely not something we'd recommend either - haha!

Beeline good...app very average

Once you’ve got the route you want in, having the beeline on my bike is such an easy and simple way to do bike navigation. It’s works very well. However, getting to that point where you have the route you want on the app is unnecessarily difficult.
I like to try to create my own routes in London to make longer routes for longer cycles rather than quickest A to B. But doing that in the map is so awkward to do. You have to put in a million different way points because if you don’t it will give you some very weird and wonderful routes between points that are too far apart.
That would be bad enough but what makes it much worse is that you can’t alter the start position of your route, a really obviously silly omission in my opinion. This means you can’t take the time to plan routes ahead of time if you aren’t already at the starting location. So I’m left standing in places for ages trying to fiddle with the app to creat the route I want.
Fix those 2 issues and I’d say this would be the absolute perfect way to navigate on a bicycle

Developer Response ,

Thanks for taking the time to review the app. We're glad to hear that you like the device, even if you think the app needs some improvement.
We'd definitely be interested to hear some more detailed feedback from you about the weird routes it wants to take you on! We're constantly trying to improve our routing so any detailed feedback is really appreciated.
Just to let you know - you can change the starting location of the route. There's a clearer explanation of this on our Youtube channel on the 'Planning a Beeline route' video but I'll try to explain in words - tap on the blue marker that indicates the start of your route and you should be able to move it around or type a starting point into the search bar at the top. Hope that helps!
