Description
The Regional Access Database (RAD) is the online service from The BMC allowing you to find the latest access advice for crags in England and Wales.
This app allows you to:
- Search for crags name, area and map
- View detailed access advice and information
- View weather and tidal information
- Easily save crags as favourites
- Add comments about your crag experience
- Download relevant files for each crag

Font updates, COVID-19 updates.
COVID-19 updates include a text block for each crag page with an up to date BMC website link to climbing specific government advice to adhere to COVID-19 measures e.g. social distancing, travel restrictions etc.

Finally the RAD in my pocket
Loads of info from the database in the app. Even Cheddar's confusing access is mostly covered. Two things that will turn this from a 4* to a 5* app though… Being able to click the links included in the details to download further information would be very useful. See Cheddar quirky restrictions as an example. I also noticed that some seasonal restrictions for nesting birds are displayed but without any dates of when the restrictions apply. See Avon Gorge Main Wall.
Pointless if out of date
This is potentially a really useful app for all those who love the great outdoors, whether mountain walkers or rock climbers. Info on car parking, types of rock and CRoW details are very handy. But many wildlife and rights of way alerts are months old, so nesting warnings, for instance, are pointless and disappointing.
In principle ok
A major issue for me is the font is unreadable. Maybe I need to dig my glasses out, but the font has too many vertical lines too close, so whilst I can read other apps fine, not this one. So much so that this is unusable for me.
