The BoostrApp was developed exclusively and based on scientific findings for the BootStRaP study (https://www.internetandme.eu/).
The BootStRaP: Boosting Societal Adaptation and Mental Health in a Rapidly Digitalizing, Post-Pandemic Europe is a Europe-wide study uniting scientists from 14 European countries—Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Gibraltar, Estonia, Portugal, Hungary, and Lithuania—as well as Australia and Israel— and 22 institutions to address and reduce the risks of harmful internet use among teenagers—the online generation. By gathering information through the BootstrApp, we aim to learn more about and mitigate internet overuse and enhance the mental health of young people aged 12 to 16 across Europe.
9 European nations —the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Lithuania, and Switzerland— use the BoostrApp to participate in the study for 6 months. The BoostrApp will collect a range of data, including responses to questionnaires, game interactions, and mobile sensing information. Individual feedback, a voucher, and a certificate are then provided within the app. All data collected via the BootstrApp is transferred to secure European servers using encrypted transmission, ensuring the highest standards of data protection and privacy. Note: The BootstrApp can be used free of charge. The normal data usage fees may apply when using the app. Check with your provider for more information if necessary.
