Description

British Birds – Birding in depth since 1907

Join a community of like-minded birders, amateur and professional ornithologists, writers and photographers when you read British Birds, the birdwatchers’ journal of record.

Each month, we publish a range of articles, each giving a detailed account of its subject, with page space allocated to allow for really in-depth coverage. Alongside information about birds recorded in the Western Palearctic or other species of significant interest, there’s news and comment from the UK and beyond, a summary of recent sightings and new book releases critically appraised.

British Birds also includes the annual reports

of the British Birds Rarities Committee and the UK

Rare Breeding Birds Panel.

All profits generated by the journal support conservation and research projects.

“British Birds is a journal for all occasions. It’s the key depository for our birding past; it keeps birders abreast of what’s happening right now; and it will surely help us all to chart the future of ornithology.”

Mark Cocker

“British Birds is among my all time favourite journals: I love its history, and I love its Notes section in particular which is a goldmine and a fabulous source of research ideas.”

Professor Tim Birkhead,

University of Sheffield

Problems

I have a BB subscription and works well on my pc: good mag which I’ve subscribed to for 30+ years.

However, this app is very problematic and I can’t sign in on my ipad or iphone. I’ve contacted BB but had no response. I’ve tried AppSupport on my iphone which gives me far more access than the downloaded app but I still can’t report the problem.

Totally useless if you can’t sign in.

Yeech!

Very clunky. Not sure what it’s designed for but it doesn’t fit an iPad screen. Search facility poor, needs to have a list rather than whole articles that you need to click on to see what you want.
The latest issue of the magazine is awfully laid out (in comparison to the pocket mags version, which is very smart) and I’m led to believe Pocket Mags will finish when my subscription finishes and this will be the magazine delivery mechanism. Dreadful.
Hopefully this is the beta version, otherwise we are doomed.
I repeat. Yeech!
Unfortunately there wasn’t a lower rating than 1 star!

British Birds magazine is great by the way:-)
