Canvas Student 4+

On the whole the app functions exactly as you would expect and want. Intuitive and fast. Everything for your course in one place. The one Large flaw I refer to is that if you switch to another app Canvas resets itself, it also doesn’t allow for split screen on iPads. This means you can’t make notes or cross check anything online without having to go back to square one when using the app again. If this could be remedied it would be a 5 star app in my opinion.

This is a really great app because I can access all of my course information on one platform across a lot of my devices. Why I didn’t give it 5 stars though is because even when you leave the app to open another one, the app restarts, as in if you go back to the canvas student app the page you were in will not be present and it will go back to home screen. This is sometimes very frustrating when you want to check the internet for a piece of information then come back to where you left off to find out the app has restarted. Very annoying. Also I would like the aesthetics of the desktop version to be applied on iPad, as right now, the main screen is split into two with a narrower part on the left and a larger on the right giving a preview. I would prefer the desktop design layout on iPad.

Ive only just discovered Canvas has really great note taking features for tables (e.g. iPad Pro). I was using Notability up until now but through pure accident I discovered Canvas lets you draw on lecture slides with a stylus and saves your edits. The interface for using the stylus is actually much better than paid for apps created specifically for that! Really impressed, sad I didn’t know about this at the start of uni. Better late than never - but please point it out more for others who don’t know.
