Chess - Play & Learn Online 4+

First of all this app is fantastic. I am registered blind and use the IPhone with VoiceOver which is a screen reader. This app is 100% accessible and I thank the developers immensely for making sure that we can access it and I hope and pray that you will keep making it fully accessible for us. I used to play Shredder chess but it’s nowhere near as good as this app at all. This app could not be better. I love the fact that I can play real people but more the fact that I can learn the wonderful game of chess. This has really help me so much when I’ve been down all stressed, so thank you for giving me an amazing app. The developers are absolutely first class and I could not be happier to have purchased the subscription with them. Give this app a try. You will not be disappointed at all. Again, thank you developers for making it inclusive for everybody.

Hello engineering team, I have been using the app for 2 years (nickname igorthebest17) and this has definitely been a wild ride. The app looks solid and smooth from the first glance, with the nice design system, however as a chess player I tend to care more about how the gameplay is implemented, app’s performance and how it handles different network broadbands. No matter the chess board style, it feels sluggish compared to lichess app. Maybe it’s because of the animation time, rerendering, etc. But it’s not a major thing. More importantly, there are some critical bugs still in place. The biggest issue I had - and was also confirmed by my friend - when you switch from WiFi to mobile internet or other way around - the app says that the connection is lost, and there’s no easy way to get back online. When you force restart the app, it just doesn’t start but rather is stuck and you have to repeat the launch many times until eventually it comes back. I lost countless number of games because of that. Other thing I really don’t like about chess com app is that you can’t use analyze board on app. It’s so easy to do it on lichess but you can’t do it here. I often want to analyze OTB games right after I finished them and I can’t do it on my phone. I don’t feel it’s fair as I pay for the premium subscription with unlimited analysis. Please fix it.

Thank you for this feedback. We're working on optimizations for super blitz and bullet chess to minimize piece animation and the time used to make moves. Switching networks may show a temporary lack of connection in app but should regain connection soon after. If the app becomes stuck, you can use the "Force stop" option in application settings, but if the problem is occurring frequently, please write to us at support@chess.com for assistance. Lastly, we're working on implementing a standalone analysis board to mirror that feature on the Chess.com website!

The website itself is very good and obviously not 1 star, but my experience with it as of late has been infuriating. I am a high level player having played since a young age and came back to my previously dormant “joke” account, beginning to take my games more seriously. The combination of this being an account lower elo than I actually was and me having improved by the time I had come back to the website meant that I was winning almost all of my games. This lead to my account being closed, something which I was not overly annoyed about as, although I lost all of my playing history, it forced me to make a new account at a competitive elo for me. However I had purchased a diamond tier subscription for the account, which I assumed would be transferred over to my new account along with my friends list (which was). This was annoying as I had just renewed my subscription, so I basically paid £15 for nothing, but nothing that couldn’t be sorted with a quick email to the admin team. Wrong. Instead I have had radio silence and when I attempted to just pay another £15 to get a subscription on the new account, the app had no issue taking my money but I never received the membership. The confusing closure of my account, no help and £30 down the drain. Very disappointing treatment of a player who has supported the website for years.
